The sad reality of this season.
Is that the 3 collapses against the eagles 9ers and Hawks will define this season if we dont cash a chip. And that will be hard for all of us to swallow.
I think ultimately and if we're being honest our D was not near as good as we thought. And special teams was a disaster.
Been a hard last couple days wrapping my head around the reality of what should have been an easy #1 seed clinching regular season.

This Atlanta game scares me. A capable D and weapons that can house it on any play. I really hope we dont got into the playoffs cold division winners or notADonaldBeast wrote: ↑Today, 5:38 am Is that the 3 collapses against the eagles 9ers and Hawks will define this season if we dont cash a chip. Re: The sad reality of this season.
The collapse has been historic & a few days to swallow it all changes nothing - Atlanta has players and the Rams can be beaten if they do not come to play - Will they be tuned in and ready to play ? Hard to get a beat on the mindset of the team - Wonder if the Seattle/SF game will have relevance for the Rams .

If we lose to the Morris led Falcons, you can also count on being ejected in the first round and the season was a joke… on us.Bruce77 wrote: ↑Today, 5:46 amThis Atlanta game scares me. Hope you are wrong DM - but the thought has passed through my mind also. Things surely mutated rather quickly for the Rams Thursday night.

Let’s see how McVay and Co react to Thursday loss. I think we’ve become a better team. Rams just play better when we’ve been embarrassed.

If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. This team should be a well-oiled killing machine by now.

I have to disagree on fire sale my friend... we are too damn close. More like competently revamp the DB group and find someone who can really lead ST's. Other than these two issues, we are a top team.Claremontram wrote: ↑Today, 9:54 am If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. Re: The sad reality of this season.
We got all that cap space for next year so I doubt we'll see a Firesale bro. A FA DB or 2 and another that's perhaps NFL ready via draft...Claremontram wrote: ↑Today, 9:54 am If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. I'll bet after seeing the year Staff is having and how 32 year old DA has 14 TD's in just 60 catch's or just about 1 every 4 grabs, don't be surprised if other established WR FA's want a slice of that pie! or any position. LA is a preferred destination again... especially with Sean there IMO!
I see us all in for at least this and next year... before Staff packs it in.

What may cost us the “chip” will be what we don’t do in the playoffs. Not what we didn’t do in some regular season game after you have clinched a playoff spot………..
Now if what cost you a game in the regular season extends to the playoffs then………….

I don’t care what happens in the playoffs the offense isn’t having a “firesale”…………Claremontram wrote: ↑Today, 9:54 am If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. This team should be a well-oiled killing machine by now.
And the defensive front 7 isn’t either…………….
Now would I possibly want a change at DC because of what has taken place at times this season……………

Re: The sad reality of this season.
I don’t care if we get blown out in the first round at Tampa Bay, no fucking way this team is ready for a “fire sale.” That’s a ridiculous take.Claremontram wrote: ↑Today, 9:54 am If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. And would I trade McVay for any other head coach in the league? No. But let’s be philosophical. No one is perfect and Sean has the frustrating knack for leading the way to epic collapses.
Up 16 with 8 minutes left and lose. How fucking frustrating is that?

Re: The sad reality of this season.
Shula was a coaching candidate a few weeks ago. He’s not gettt g fired. Rams corners are unserious. They miss Lake who is a solid nickle back. Also they can upgrade from Speights. They need another wave on defense. If Stafford is back, they won’t need much on offense other than o line depth and a legit WR3. Set at TE and RB.NorCal RF wrote: ↑Today, 10:32 amI don’t care what happens in the playoffs the offense isn’t having a “firesale”…………Claremontram wrote: ↑Today, 9:54 am If we lose in the 1st round of the Playoffs, then it's time for a Firesale. Re: The sad reality of this season.
Jets had a fire sale. Maybe the Raiders are due for one. Cincy. Dolphins. We are a playoff team who could have been/could be the #1 seed. This is not a firesale situation. But fix the defense yes.

no way are we going thru a fire sale if we lost. this team has a ton of young talent. we just need to draft well and get some players that will be impactful next year.

Re: The sad reality of this season.
Well, if nailing down the conference's #1 playoff seed was going to require a 14-3 regular-season record this year, I can't really describe that as an 'easy' objective, especially given that our team would be playing a first-place schedule.ADonaldBeast wrote: ↑Today, 5:38 am

However I must agree that, barring an unlikely postseason run as a 'wild card' team, 2025 will end up being seen ultimately as a disappointing year by numerous Rams fans...

I’m just saying if someone is blamed for this team not getting to the SB there is a very short, list if any list, who will be “blamed”………..
I don’t think Shula would either but Again JMO if someone is the scapegoat…………..

Jesus Christ couldn't coach this secondary to an all pro level. Not saying I am a huge fan of Shula but it's not his fault for McSnead not addressing this position last year in the off season.NorCal RF wrote: ↑Today, 11:07 amJMO he should not have been a candidate a few weeks ago or now………….SoCalRam78 wrote: ↑Today, 10:36 am

agree with you on the fact no way should he have been a candidate for a HC job
not sure I am blaming anyone if they don't win the SB

Re: The sad reality of this season.
Lol at some fucking "fire sale". If y'all ran the team, we'd be in rebuild move every four years. All we need is DBs and some OL depth. Maybe McVay can stop the bullshit of always going conservative whenever we have a lead.

Re: The sad reality of this season.
The most disappointing thing would be wasting a historic QB season by a guy Stafford’s age. You got 100th percentile returns there. Can he replicate it at age 38 next year? We will see.
The rest of the core of the team I still feel good about. The O line played great this year. You got maybe a franchise RT in McClendon show himself.
I feel good about the Front 7. That’s a core of guys you can have a 2-3 year window around.
Corum/Kyren were both pretty good.
Nacua was out of this world great
Who knows what Davante will do next year at his age but I think the Rams can always find productive WRs
I really don’t think any big changes should be made coming off a 13-4 or 12-5 season.
Just keep plugging away and try to draft some every down starters (not redundant toy pieces).
Post AD I think the defense has been sufficiently rebuilt. And offense will keep chugging as long as Stafford plays at a high level bc the pieces around him (oline, RBs, WRs) are all doing their jobs

Re: The sad reality of this season.
There are too many things that are obvious. I think everyone on here has been asking for Blackburn to be fired. It only took the whole season for wonder boy to figure it out. I've been saying for two years now that we need two new inside linebackers. We found a gem in Landman but we still need another one. Our DB's suck, plain and simple. Most of them would either be backups or cut from other teams.
I think moving forward it's time to clean house. Aside from Lake, Kinchens and maybe one other, I'd cut them all and find a free agent this spring and draft a couple. We can't rely on our defensive line to apply enough pressure for QB's not to have time to throw any longer. AD is gone. No matter how well we have tried to replace him, there is nobody else like him.
As far as the draft goes here's what I would do:
RD 1 - CB, S, ILB
RD 1 - DB, OL, QB
RD 2 - DB, TE, ILB
RD 3 - DB, ILB, C
RD 4 - RD 7 - It's time to fill some holes. Whatever we don't have from the list above or a big bruising style RB

Re: The sad reality of this season.
Can’t help but laugh at this thread. Tell me one fan base that likes all 3 phases of their team. We are still one of the best teams in the NFL. Yes, we have positions we can improve but so does every team.
We can at least beat any team we play. Doesn’t mean we will, but I wouldn’t trade our team for any other team in the NFL. What 53 players and coaches would you rather have than the Rams?
The playoffs will come down to a few plays and execution. Do we turn the ball over or do we get turnovers. Do we get the questionable call from the ref. Remember the year we won the SB? We had 3 close games and every thing clicked for us to win them. The best team does not always win the championship. Some of you are acting like we don’t have a chance.

Agree 100% Especially the statement " every thing clicked." For what ever reason teams going to SB tend to get breaks.Bulldawg wrote: ↑Today, 5:09 pm Can’t help but laugh at this thread.
