Ridiculous play call like I constantly say that play has a 25% roughly chance of success. In that situation we should run it with very capable backs or throw short which is a high % play! McVay needs to be smarter there.

Because it has worked in the past. Ferg scored a td on a 3rd and short. Puka has had big plays on 3rd and short.

It was the kill shot. Keeping your foot on the gas

With that said it wasnt the first read. The first read was short and covered, so rather throw it there, Stafford found a open Adams.

It wasnt the first read. The first read was covered on the short route. Stafford went to the next read, open Adams.

I rather that than Stafford force it to the 1st read and get it picked.

Easy to understand you take what the D gives you. Adams had beat his man. Pass is completed if he didn’t pull his hammy…….

It was a good play. Defense wasn't expecting it and 1 yard plays don't always work either. Adams was wide open until he pulled up lame. Defense is protecting the 1 yard. Nothing wrong with the play other than execution.

4th n 3………..

Execution was fine. It wasn’t completed because WR got hurt while running his route……..

I wish they could have been a bit more prudent with Adams and avoided the deep pass. His hammy just didn’t have enough grease today for that play.

That could have been a good one for Atwell, though, had he been in instead of Adams. Those kinds of plays are why he was activated, no?

JMO you can’t second guess yourself there. He said he was ok to go before game n so did medical staff……

He look fine before that play. Made some good catches on first drive n at least one later. Ran those routes fine……..

I wouldn’t play him Thursday. Give him the 2 full weeks before the Monday night game in Atlanta. Don’t want to lose him for playoffs……….

I think Whittington, Atwell, n Mumfield will make plays Thursday night a long with TE. Adams will be missed in RZ but maybe now McVay will run the ball without hesitation in RZ with no Adams……..

Agreed.
And Parkinson will get more attention, which is great because it feels like Stafford and Ferguson are on the verge of clicking.

I too think Adams was about to haul that in before the endgame happened.

Would have been a huge kill shot, unfortunately Adams hammy gave out.

It was the third read on the play, based off of Stafford slight head movements. The first read was Mumpfield at the 1st down marker or left side who was covered, 2nd read was Ferg at the 1st down marker, who was covered, the 3rd read was Adams creating separation down the field.

So Stafford could either force it to the 1st or 2nd read and risk a int, or throw to a open Adams.

The play call was good, and Stafford made the right read, Adams unfortunately pulled a hammy. If he didn't it could have been a 20 yard play

Nobody doubts the surprise aspect to it but the % is still 25% chance for success. We are trying to keep the chains moving and that's it run it or short pass increase our odds of success.

Lions D knew that, that's why they took away the 1st and 2nd read at the first down sticks

Last thing I want to see is Stafford force a ball into coverage. He went to his 3rd read, Adams, who was open. I dont see the problem.

Lions play D different then the Rams. On 3rd and short the Lions play up on the receivers to take away the short passes and make you throw deep.

Rams on third and short, plays off the wr, and hope the defender can get to the receiver and make the play short of the sticks

What part is if he didn’t get hurt it would have been 75% completed because he had beat coverage does some not understand……..

I say 75% because Adams could have dropped the ball just like any receiver could have in a “move the chains” pass……
