We are going to cut some really good football players
Hopefully most make it to the PS but players like S Tanner Ingle, CB's Lampkin, AJ Green, WR's Edwards and Pressly, DL Heflin, OLB Pearcy, and several OL will be tough to go unnoticed after this preseason. Even players like Desjuan Johnson, Brennan Jackson, Keir Thomas who made the team last year might not be guaranteed a spot on the 53 because of the talent we have everywhere.
A lot of these guys will get poached but we will have one hell of a practice squad if they clear waivers. I like that TE Redman too but he should safely make it to the PS.

Sad the roster can't expand to 56-58 players.

I mean dude, what are we gonna do at WR and OL? We are loaded. And it's looking like we will have to keep 4RB's based on how they are all playing. I was hoping we'd sneak Bennett to the PS so we could use his roster spot but that is not going to happen now. We might need Reeder's spot to carry Dolac and Paul but since Reeder isn't even dressing I think he's safe. Just not enough roster spots so yeah, 58 would be nice this year. Look out for some trades?

In some ways, it’s a good problem to have, but it does stink. It wasn’t that long ago when the Rams roster lacked depth and competition. The team has come a long way. Let’s hope they make the right choices. Injuries, sadly, might make some of those decisions for them over the next week or so.

Yep. OL Lampkin and ILB Paul came out with injuries. If those are serious enough where we have to PUP them that frees up 2 spots for a while.bigklein wrote: ↑August 17th, 2025, 9:19 am In some ways, it’s a good problem to have, but it does stink. We'll see what happens after the next preseason game.

The only problem with trades is they will most likely be 7th round picks. Everyone knows we need to waive some good people. Good problem to have I guess.49RH8R wrote: ↑August 17th, 2025, 9:03 amI mean dude, what are we gonna do at WR and OL? We are loaded. I think I like Dolac better than Reeder. We have already seen Reeder’s ceiling.

"I think I like Dolac better than Reeder. We have already seen Reeder’s ceiling." I will go a step further....our ILB position(s) should be open for competition between Landman, Spreights, Dolac, and Paul.

What to me is the saddest part is other teams with mediocre scouting staff get to pluck our PS of players who will make their 53. So Snead and his team do the hard work only for others to reap the benefits.bigklein wrote: ↑August 17th, 2025, 9:19 am In some ways, it’s a good problem to have, but it does stink. Re: We are going to cut some really good football players
Just remember that this is pre season with guys playing at second/third tier level. That said, we seem deep at OL, ILB, RB, and WR, The 4 RB situation is the tough one. I would hate to lose any of those 4. And we are all tired of Reeder- but he knows the team/plays. So pretty sure Dolac get left out- which MIGHT be a mistake. He could be better than Paul, but was UDFA. Some reason, that stuff plays in. The WR seems pretty easy to me.

Re: We are going to cut some really good football players
Good post! I guess good position to be in. So 16 players can be on PS, +1 from international pathway? Some go on IR but that gets convoluted really fast.49RH8R wrote: ↑August 17th, 2025, 8:48 am Hopefully most make it to the PS but players like S Tanner Ingle, CB's Lampkin, AJ Green, WR's Edwards and Pressly, DL Heflin, OLB Pearcy, and several OL will be tough to go unnoticed after this preseason. Re: We are going to cut some really good football players
Yeah, the good ole days of stashing someone on the IR for a year are gone. We've escaped the injury bug so far (knock on wood) but if anybody starts on PUP or IR we'll have a lot of options. Teams prefer to sign their own players to the PS because they know them from all the practices. However, a team like the Niners who are desperate for OL will be watching cut down day closely. Hopefully most teams are preoccupied with signing their own players and we stock our PS with all these guys that looked good in preseason.Jacksnow wrote: ↑August 18th, 2025, 7:44 amGood post! Lake and Curl are FA's so we need to get some young safeties in the pipeline. Ingle, Valcarcel, Wallace.

My hope is the Rams sign Shaun Dolac to the 53 and release Reeder who, IMO, is not an NFL caliber LB. Dolac is around the ball making tackles and looks good in coverage whereas Reeder misses a lot of tackles and struggles on pass plays.

Re: We are going to cut some really good football players
It honestly felt like our defense improved the moment he was out last year. Sad to say but...I agree he does not look the part, ESPECIALLY in pass coverage. Re: We are going to cut some really good football players
With an eye on the future, I think you gotta keep Dolac on the 53. People hate on Reeder but he's experienced and is a big dude on ST. But we know what his ceiling is and he's on a 1-year deal. I don't see us keeping 5 ILB's so we might have to go with a raw Dolac over Reeder's experience. McVay likes Reeder and he has been sitting with the starters so as of now he gets the nod.Idaho_Ram wrote: ↑August 18th, 2025, 12:03 pmIt honestly felt like our defense improved the moment he was out last year.
