Free agents worth a look

Some free agents I think we should bring in and kick the tires on:

RB - Nick Chubb - He's on a comeback mission and would be a great short yardage back
WR - Gabe Davis - Was recently cut and wouldn't hurt to pick up another WR who is only 26
RT - Jedrick Wills - Didn't work out at a LT. Might be a better backup than anyone we currently have and could be our future RT

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are expected to open the practice window for RB Nick Chubb (knee) this week. Once the team makes that move, they'll have three weeks to promote him to the active roster.

I’ll be a buzzkill I dont want any of them. In regards to Wills:

“ In fact, Wills has gotten considerably worse since his first two NFL campaigns, seeing a decrease in pass-blocking efficiency, penalties committed, and run-block grades.”

“Compounding the issue of poor advanced metrics and suffering season-ending injuries in 2023 and 2024 was Wills' on-field effort. His body language was routinely awful as he allowed defenders blow by him, erasing any goodwill that coaches might've had if he was playing through the whistle and just struggling with performance.”

“ Coaches can forgive a lot, including illegal off-field transgressions, but bad effort and football character is a death knell to a career.”

“Wills made the shocking statement that he made a "business decision" in November when he decided to sit out a game with a knee injury. He was benched for that and never returned to the field for Cleveland.”

There is a reason why he is still unemployed…………..

It really depends on the cost. Wouldn't someone like Chubb be better than Ronnie Rivers, AND provide a potential short down yardage threat. 100% agree on injury history, but while he was on the field, he had a significant impact to the game. You can't say that about Rivers, or even Corum for that matter. I think he would be an immediate upgrade to what we have behind Williams now. I wouldn't want to pay "starter salary" for him.

Wouldn't someone like Chubb be better than Ronnie Rivers, AND provide a potential short down yardage threat. 100% agree on injury history, but while he was on the field, he had a significant impact to the game. You can't say that about Rivers, or even Corum for that matter. I think he would be an immediate upgrade to what we have behind Williams now. I wouldn't want to pay "starter salary" for him.

Rivers is on the team because of ST. He is as closed to a ST captain as this team has. I think you have to have him play the role of 4th RB for this reason.

They are not giving up on Corum after one year even after drafting Hunter. I still feel McVay has a vision for Corum in this offense.

So Chubb would be adding a 5th back roster wise. I just don’t see them having the luxury of adding a 5th back to this roster. Most teams can’t.

Agree on Corum...I hope we see a lot more from him this year. To be honest, I am not sure he could beat out Chubb but have to give him the benefit on age.

I guess I don't value Rivers on ST enough. Yes, he contributes, but I still think he is easily replaced. 100% agree with your comment on carrying 5 RBs. I don't see it happening. I am sure Rams leadership has evaluated each position and weighed pros/cons. I just think Chubb would be an improvement to our current 53.

And most don’t in regards to Rivers and ST. We don’t until that unit costs us a game. But he is the definition of McVay’s we not me. That isn’t something McVay takes for granted IMO. And RR has had that mindset since High School. As said before I saw it firsthand.

For this reason I don’t think McVay replaces Rivers for a player that probably won’t play much if added……..
