He did slow down RW and Metcalf. Seattle offense at the time was one of the better offenses in the nfl.

my theory on the Seahawks vs the Rams is RW is athletic but not athletic enough to take advantage of our D, Murray and Lamar are faster and quicker than RW

also the seahawks generally have two weapons, locket and metcalf, plays into the JR5 blanket strategy

I don't like our DBs vs Cards, Cowboys or the Bucs

Tampa is one of the highest scoring offenses in the nfl and the rams held them to 17 (minus the garbage td when the game was over.)?

Seattle isn't a top team. it's us and AZ in the west. I agree with 75 we need to play like this against the top tier teams

we are playing well right now and I think the next 2 weeks we are going to be fine.

Good passing offenses will beat your defense unless you can wreck their QB with the pass rush. A good secondary will not stop a great passing team-a stout pass rush will-thus you keep Floyd when you have decent replacement DB's on your roster and very few pass rushers. In a perfect world we would not have all this dead money and could have kept JJ and Hill but that's not the case in our Rams universe. Our LB's are the real problem-we've lost some good ones and have not drafted a top tier replacement LB in quite a while-Terrell Lewis is coming on so I have hopes for him but he's not a MLB which is where we are weak. It feels like our defense is starting to jell and we'll have a few weak offenses upcoming to get our pass rush and defensive philosophy dialed up-I'm expecting a legitimate Super Bowl run for this team.......

4th down defense has been really STOUT , our problem relies on third and longs , because morris refuses to pressure the qb on those situations much like Wade used to do .

That is true , but they did not have AB for that game , it is basically like us not having woods or van jefferson . It makes a difference.

the damn cowboys are now a force in the NFC . Their offense is looking insane and Dak is playing lights out , even better then prior to his injury

So you are waiting for the rams to play a top 5 or 6 offense, with everyone healthy (that isn't Seattle) before you can evaluate the rams defense? That could be awhile.

I didn't say that. I said the bucs missed Ab. Evaluating our defense now I think our secondary outside ramsey is not good at all.

I thought you were implying that the Rams D doesn't get full credit for stopping a great Tampa offense bc they had a injury/covid (AB was out)?
Do Stopping Tampa count? Or it doesn't bc they didnt have their full offense with AB out.

It counts but the fact that they were missing AB must be taken into consideration. If they were fully healthy on offense the fact that they stopped them would be more impressive.

Let's not forget the likes of Andy Dalton and geno Smith torching them. Not even gonna mention Murray. We lack talent in this secondary. Outside ramsey we have below average players There.

I think we have two different definitions of torch.

Stats are misleading and don't tell the whole story . Andy couldn't finish the drives with tds, but he drove down the field plenty . Geno didn't play a snap for 3 years , got there and his first drive he went boom boom boom TD . He got intercepted because locket tripped ALONE and couldn't reach the ball . If it wasn't for locket's mistake it seemed to me he would go ,again, boom boom boom TD .

BTW - Geno did amazing against our defense , and I am not the only one saying it . 130 yards in ONE quarter. 2 scoring drives in a a row ( td, fg) and an interception that wasn't his fault.

https://www.nfl.com/news/geno-smith-inc ... hawks-rams

We rank 23rd in points per game allowed and 21st in passing yards per game allowed. Like I said , this secondary is not very good . When and If we rank top 10 in both of these categories I might have a different evaluation about our secondary .

If there were rust on Geno, you'd have been hard-pressed to find it. The Seahawks came out firing from their own 2-yard-line, trailing 16-7, with one quarter of football to play. Smith completed all five of his attempts on his first drive for 72 yards and a TD and added a six-yard run for good measure. It was Smith's first touchdown pass since Week 13, 2017.

It was a fever dream watching the former New York Jets second-round pick dice up the Rams defense like it hadn't been years since he played meaningful football.

"I went right to Geno afterward and just said, 'You know, you've been waiting a long time for your opportunity, and the faith that you've shown in our program and in us to stay with us, I was so proud,'" coach Pete Carroll said after the game, via the team's official website.

Smith led another scoring drive that cut the Rams lead to 23-17 as fans chanted, "Gee-noo! Gee-noo! Gee-noo!"

Never stop believin'.

After the Seahawks defense finally forced an L.A. punt on the ensuing drive, Smith got a chance to be the hero. Unfortunately, Tyler Lockett fell on the first snap of the drive, and Smith was intercepted, squashing any comeback hopes. The Rams went on to win, 26-17.

So yeah , I am sticking to my theory that Geno torched our defense after 3 years without playing a snap .

That doesn't change the fact that this secondary is bad.

Staley D looks like it did against the Packers last year. Looks like teams figured it out. They are taking advantage of those light boxes, despite how he tries to disguise them pre snap.

As always in the nfl, teams adjust after they get more film, will Staley be able to counter?

Its a long season. Our defense looks good- just not great. We are spoiled from last year. If we can't stop/beat good teams, then there will be no playoff run. But that's TBD. So far we are 1-1 in my book. Beat TB. Lost to AZ.

Cards D is good and so is their O.

What I am expecting/hoping is that as the hits pile up, Murray will slow down and he will become easier to defend.

Ramsey blew his assignment on the Swift td. I heard he said as much after the game but didn't hear it myself.
