Someone who comes on here and states he wants the Rams to lose, Stafford is satin, and keeps poking the bear… yeah, that’s gonna blow over like a fart in the wind in here.

NorCal was correct in his question to Commish. If Commish is ok with this nonsense… then Commish maybe in the wrong forum himself. This is nuts. How can anyone be ok with this gibberish?. (And I like Commish, even when he can’t admit when he’s wrong, I still like the old Texan). 😜
Yeah, I think Commish is just a supporter of everyone's right to an expressed view. Which I disagree with in this case to some degree, that is, this is a TEAM forum in which Upland is sheriff. Anybody not ok with that can leave.

For me, sure discussion is great regardless of the view. Sincere discussion that is. I mean, can you imagine going to a Lion's forum with the member name Jared Goof, just to antagonize fans there? I mean one or two posts to make a point fine, but an ongoing presence about what a trainwreck Goff is or whatever? It's a dick move…

Exactly. I am 100% w expressing different views, but this troll is different. Shady. He won't let it go. That I am not ok with. This is a pretty interesting piece from Pat McAfee show last week. It was interesting to hear insight from a GB defensive player on how they prepared playing against Stafford (3:15)

AND the perspective of a Lions fan (8:30) which is probably represents a majority of Lions fans.

You, BD were not a Rams fan. You were a Lions fan because you followed Stafford. Correct? Yes, This is correct.

You are a perfect example of an 'outsider' coming in and expressing your points. You have watched Staff ALL THE WAY BACK to his Bulldog days in college. You know him inside and out. You at times have expressed your concerns with Stafford. BUT, you did this in a sincere objective way. You didnt come in here trying to piss us all off or tell us our QB really sucks and doom and gloom crap.

That is the difference.

You my friend are an example of how to come onto a new teams forum and get along with posters. You are respected and liked. Maybe you can pass this along to the next 'lions' poster that thinks its cool to come in and crap all over our board.
Thanks DMR. I will say the big difference is that I will be pulling for the Rams when they play Detroit. I have been converted. :-)

I saw a poll today to Lions fans..

72% Want to see Stafford win a SB
13% said Stafford was the Rams problem now
10% Didn’t care since he wasn’t their QB any longer.

Those are pretty good numbers. Do you think 72% Ram fans want to see Goff win a SB?

First of all, I'm not a Texan, I currently reside in the Lone Star State however I'm from western New York, that's how I'll always identify myself.

Secondly, if I believe that I'm wrong I'll admit it--for example, I was totally wrong in my enthusiasm over the Rams selecting Greg Robinson at #2 overall in the 2014 NFL draft.

By the way, I was cheering against the Redskins during the '13 season, so that our team's first-round draft pick from them would be high--that's a perfectly legitimate fan perspective, so far as I'm concerned.

Thus I'm not 'offended' by a Lions fan feeling the same way towards the Good Guys during the '21 and '22 regular seasons, especially if he seems conflicted since he also claims that he wouldn't mind Matthew Stafford winning a Super Bowl ring with the Rams. However, I'll agree that such an outside perspective ideally should merely be mentioned once in passing while posting in our team's fan forum.

Finally, given my support of the Good Guys going way back to Roman Gabriel and the Fearsome Foursome, I'm hardly concerned with whether or not anyone here considers me a "real Rams fan" in his/her opinion... :) 8-) :geek:

The Mud Bowl. Frustrating game. Let's not forget Bert Jones as well. That didn't work out either. Played a total of 4 games. The Rams record of bringing in older QB's from other teams has not been pretty.

Bunch of know-nothing Morons think Stafford will be good cause "we're due," not cause he's far better and not comparable to Joe Namath, Bert Jones, Steve Bartkowski and Chris Miller. LOL. True Idiots who dont know Football on this board.
Those guys were hardly coming off of high points in their careers  LOL. Namath? OMG, could he even still walk? Hadl had some success with the Rams stout line-up (coming off a meh year as I recall), then back to the lights flickering low to end his career down the road. Bartkowski Yep, certainly used up as well. Etc etc...nothing wrong seeing if an old dog has a year or two of success left in him (QB's were so physically beaten back then), but comparing those mentioned (i.e. so past their prime) with Stafford is pretty funny.

Again, what did Las Vegas say about the Rams acquiring Matt Stafford? I mean, "people" were expecting great things from those old QB's joining the Rams huh? Who exactly? Las Vegas? :D

If McVay was so quickly disgusted with Goff, things could go south in a hurry. I really don’t know what McVay/Snead were thinking in giving up so much to attain a player who’s never shown the consistency to make a deep run.

It feels like McVay is recreating the 2014 Lions. Top 5 defenses led by dominant DT, offenses led by Matthew Stafford(except now a 33yr old hurt back Stafford). Maybe Sean feels that his play calling and a running game will be enough to put the Rams over the top. For McVay’s sake, he had better hope that Stafford doesn’t choke in the playoffs like he did with the 2014 Lions.
Quickly disgusted? It took Goff 2 full seasons of stinking for mcvay to give up on him.

I expect weekly Goff threads this year. Which is just bizarre to me. Have to be a lot of stalked ex-girlfriends around here.

Goff has already been in a SB, he’s a two time pro bowler, and former #1 pick. He had a couple down seasons and he’s out, it seems like a short leash to me, but obviously McVay felt the need to change.

Meanwhile, Stafford has one pro bowl selection in 12 seasons, take a look at Stafford’s career stats. He had some pretty poor seasons after playing so well in 2011. If McVay was his coach, he might have been cut loose by The Lions years ago.
Your bullshit is getting tiresome at this point because you will not acknowledge he barely had any help. You keep saying "WELL HE DID ONE SEASON!". Well, that was one season. Besides Calvin Johnson, he NEVER had any help.
Why cant you acknowledge that? I've been watching dude since Georgia because I'm an SEC supporter. We can do this all day, you'll lose. Get the fuck off the forum dude because your bs is clearly pissing people off. And take your balls with you.

Stafford had 8 seasons where he threw over 4,000 yards. Fastest QB to get to 40,000 yards. I guess he did that in his one good season.

For Sean McVay’s sake -Stafford better be lights out and way above Goff or he could be exposed. I am hopeful but the jury is still out.

The old days of horrible clock management better be over with an experienced QB-let Stafford audible and quit sending in plays 10 seconds before the time clock expires.

I will say Stafford is a great clock manager. I guess a lot of the issues could be blamed on McVay and not Goff if not sending the play in on time. I will be disappointed if Stafford doesn't have the freedom to call audibles, etc. Stafford is aware of everything going on the field. Very bright. Let's hope the two have good chemistry and develop a trust of each other.

I would venture to say this drove MOST ALL OF us nuts. I dont know if it was a play calling issue (McVay) or a Goff issue (meaning that the play caller 'McVay' would debate himself on the sidelines IF GOFF could do a certain play or not. OR if McVay just couldn't make up his mind in general). But our clock management and having plays ready to go was prob the worst management issues in our game last season. How many times did the poster (Harkin or Big Klein, cant remember) that he would yell so loud at his TV that his wife would leave the room and his dog would get terrified from his outburst and run and hide?!
That would drive me crazy.

One cool story that some people don't realize. Everyone has seen the film where Stafford gets his left shoulder dislocated, goes to the sideline, then pops back up to play. What most people don't realize is that Detroit had 0 timeouts left. With Stafford being attended to on the sideline there is no way for him to get back in the game. Cleveland called a timeout...Stafford was laying on the sideline in pain and surrounded by doctors. He heard the announcer say time-out. He immediately realized he could go back in the game and that is when he told the doctors to "get the Fck off of me". That is situation/game awareness. Also, never-ever leave give him the ball with time left on the clock if you are the other team. He will figure out a way to make it interesting.

Matthew Stafford is 33 years old now, hmmmm?

Ages of other key veteran QB 'saviors' when they joined our team:

Joe Namath--34

Steve Bartkowski--33 (turned 34 in November 1986)

John Hadl--33

Bert Jones--30 (turned 31 in September '82)

Nick Foles--26

:) 8-) :P

I agree 100% with this. Stafford is lights out in a 2 min offense. For some reason it’s like he just kicks it into another gear.

Matthew Stafford is 33 years old now, hmmmm?

Ages of other key veteran QB 'saviors' when they joined our team:

Joe Namath--34

Steve Bartkowski--33 (turned 34 in November 1986)

John Hadl--33

Bert Jones--30 (turned 31 in September '82)

Nick Foles--26

:) 8-) :P

ram pathos...

Comprehension seems to be failing you in this thread :D

For instance - who said anything about age? Move the goal posts much LOL

Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger...hell Rodgers etc. etc. How did their last couple of years in the NFL look? (think teams would have been happy to have them?). Pretty stellar I'd say. Age wasn't the issue, it was simply how they were performing. Like Stafford...again, do you know something the high percentage of NFL evaluators and Las Vegas doesn't know? And as I said, today's QB's have way more longevity. They are hit less, less hard and take way better care of their bodies overall.

What the fuck does Namath etc. have to do with Stafford? Sooooo weak.... :D

I get it. You are not into first hand evaluation process. Strictly like to depend on stats. For instance, Wolford is undefeated as an NFL starter, right? 1-0 against Russell Wilson. 1-0 against Kyler Murray too. Doesn't matter if he was knocked right out of the SEA game...or if K. Murray was hurt...or if the Rams had the number one defense in the League...or a thousand of other factors. It's just about a QB and his wins and losses huh (i.e. "Goff being 1-0 vs. Stafford").

That's fine for you. Me tho? Stafford has very little in common currently with your past Ram examples. I mean really, what does one era in football, or completely different team...or even completely different player have to do with one another? Lame concept there Commish, very poor comparisons.

Going to be a fun season with all these panty wearing Stafford Moms. The ol Bradford Moms from the St. Louis Post Dispatch would be proud.

All those “fastest to” records and he still can’t crack most top 10 Qb lists heading into this season.

‘ Ranking NFL's top 10 quarterbacks of 2021: Patrick Mahomes No. 1; Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford miss the cut’

Seriously dude, the negative reactions you are receiving on this Rams forum is pretty much because fans here are seeing thru you IMO. You make just enough positives points toward Stafford to continue to troll here....

But again, your act doesn't smell right. You say the Stafford (in your opinion) is just right outside the NFL class of elite QB play, but then present mostly negatives.  I agree "fast" numbers don't always tell much of the story. Big passing numbers often indicate a losing effort and lots of prevent defense stats.

But yeah, were the Lions often in a comfortable position on the scoreboard for Stafford? Could he use the entire playbook, confidant in his defense? Did he often play for what we would consider NFL top offensive minds? Strong running games, top O-lines whatever.

You say he's light's out in a two-minute drill, the type of QB you just can't kill off. What else do you need to say after that?!

Great point brasil. To me this is evidence that he's an existing Butthurt Goff Mom board member.
Yup , he is . Him and toast as well , just goff's fans , not rams fans .

Don't try to make it sound like it is nothing . We are talking about 2 FULL SEASONS of pathetic play . Including being NUMBER ONE in the league in turnovers during that period . The rams are in WIN mode now . We wasted our number 1 defense last year with goff . He started declining after the SB and NEVER recovered his form . About Stafford , everybody already told you that CONTEXT matters . Stafford never had a good running game to help him . Never had a coach like mcvay . Never had a number 1 ranked defense . And still amassed 300 thousand yards in his career . It is incredible to me that mcvay saw goff everyday and realized that he was not gonna do it , traded him . BUT some of you goff's moms think you know better or more then mcvay himself . Your fixation with a mediocre qb that is not here anymore makes no sense or maybe you are just trolling and wasting our time . If you like him that much you can go to the lions boards .

Stafford had 8 seasons where he threw over 4,000 yards. Fastest QB to get to 40,000 yards. I guess he did that in his one good season.
All those “fastest to” records and he still can’t crack most top 10 Qb lists heading into this season.

Like CBS rankings are the most accurate ever . BTW - if staff is not top 10 , then goff is not even top 25 .

Not that PFF is the most credible source ever , but staff is 11 here and goff is 26 .

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-quarterbac ... nfl-season

NBC : Staff at 10 and Goff at 20 . lol

I can keep going if you want to .
