Thank goodness. In Tennessee he is out of the West and the NFC.

Of course, the Rams will nonetheless have to face him once this year--however, so will their NFC West divisional rivals... ;) 8-) :geek:

WOW. Is that all he's worth? And we couldn't come up with that?

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
It is funny how not many people wanted Julio on the Rams but they definitely didn't want him playing in the Division. I wonder how many NFC West fans are posting "I am so glad Julio didn't go to the Rams!!"
He is an super-star if he can stay healthy. I think where we were with all of our receivers we didn't need to take the calculated risk. On the other hand, I completely understand why a team like TN went after him. He is a difference maker...we just have more needs in other places...including they salary cap.

Jones is about three years past his prime. The rams actually showed restraint and didn't over pay. I am impressed.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
They showed restraint. The rams could have did the deal. They have a 2nd rounder next year and they could have redid Stafford deal and cut Hekker. They realized they already have a solid receiving core, already invested 2 2nd rounders into the wr core and right now Jones would be a luxury pick.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 12:14 pmI really don't think restraint had anything to do wtih it. When the rams traded for Cooks they did it to replace Watkins. Cooks was also much younger. The only proven wr the rams had at the time was Woods.
The rams now have two proven wrs in Kupp and Woods, invested 2 2nd rounders in VJ and Atwell and a proven boom or bust guy in D Jack.
Jones would have been a luxury.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
Rams have signed most of their rookies and have 7 million of cap space. Rams could have got more cap space after redoing Stafford contract and cutting Hekker. The rams dont need to match the chiefs and bucs wr core because they want to continue to use a heavy dose of Cam and the running game.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 1:52 pmNo, they have no cap space. Tennessee is taking on all of Jones contract which I'm sure played a role in the Rams not being able to aquire Jones. If you have a example of they could fit his contract I'm interested to see it.Cornell29 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 1:46 pm They showed restraint. The rams could have did the deal. As for our recievers. Fact is we are hoping VJ, Atwell and Jackson make a significant impact. As with Jones you are aquiring a top 10 NFL reciever of all time arguably. That's not a luxury thats a move that would put us on par with the Chiefs and Bucs which currently we are not. That said, aquiring Jones was never a realistic optioj by in large.
Chiefs were 5th in pass/run ratio. Tampa was 10th. Rams were 25th. Rams team is more built around running then the chiefs and tampa offenses.
Rams wr core is still top 10 imo.

No the rams are not the big play offense that the chiefs are. I believe they can be more in line with Tampa after acquiring Stafford and speed in D Jack.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:05 pmWell there have already been some reports Stafford doesn't want to mess with his contract yet. Even by cutting Hekker I'm not sure they have the cap. Especially considering what Jones is owed.Cornell29 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 1:56 pm Rams have signed most of their rookies and have 7 million of cap space. The way contracts are written with voided years, the rams could have made enough room if they wanted too. The rams could have added a void able year to Stafford contract freed up 10 million, without Stafford losing a dime or even having to play the voidable year. Not sure why Stafford would have a issue.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
Never said what the chiefs and bucs were doing was wrong. I said the rams offense was built differently. The rams 2018 team made the SB too and their pass/run ratio was 55%, the same as it was last year. Its clear that Mcvay offense wasn't built to pass as much as the chiefs or bucs.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:16 pmThe Rams were built for the run because our pass pro was suspect and outside of Woods and Kupp our recievers were limtited last year. I highly doubt the Rams wanted a offense ranked 23rd because of design. The Bucs and Chiefs were also in the Superbowl. Sooooo obviously what they were doing worked! Let's call a spade a spade here!Cornell29 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:11 pm No the rams are not the big play offense that the chiefs are. You're also ignoring the fact the Rams inquired about Jones. So they did have some interest but as I alluded to already ATL was not wanting to eat any of Jones cap. That's not restraint, that's logistics. It is what it is.
The rams didn't want a offense ranked 23rd thats why they made the qb change.
Many teams inquired about Jones and like the rams they showed restraint when they felt the price was too high.
Rams 2018 run /pass ratio shown below followed by the chiefs, Tampa and rams run/pass ratio in 2020.

Traded a 2nd for Peters who was young and talented and the rams needed a starting corner.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:45 pmLet me get this straight...Cornell29 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:37 pm Never said what the chiefs and bucs were doing was wrong. We traded a 2nd for Peters
We traded 2 first for Ramsey
We traded a first for Cooks
We traded 2 first, 3rd and Goff for Stafford
But a 2nd for Jones is where we draw the line. Nevermind the fact getting Jones for a 2nd is the best value of all these trades. Yeah sorry man, but that doesn't quite add up from a pragmatic view point.
It's pretty clear cap was the biggest infringement of this trade not happening.
2 First for Ramsey bc he was young and greatly talented and the rams needed a starting corner.
Traded a 1st for Cooks who was young, talented and the rams only proven wr was Woods at the time.
Traded 2 1sts and Goff for Stafford bc the qb position is arguably the most important on offense, Mcvay and Goff marriage was over. Mcvay loves Stafford.
Mcvay like the Niners, Seattle, and Cards and many other teams inquired about Jones but felt for his age and money he wasn't worth the draft capital.
If the rams didn't have Kupp or Woods. Imo the rams make the deal. Enough need wasn't there for the wr position to justify the move.
In all honesty think jones agent and/or atl Front Office overhyped alot of this interest in Jones. They wanted to drive up the price to the titans and more likely it didn't work and the titans still got him for a fair deal. The titans and new england were imo the real front runners the whole time, the rest was just noise over blown by atl front office to increase Jones price.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
Of course it's speculation. We are both just giving our opinions.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 3:05 pmWe'll agree to disgree. Teams don't inquire if they don't feel like they can improve a position. Do you think the Chiefs inquire about other QBs for example? Of course not. Atlanta also made it known they wanted to trade Jones to the AFC. It's entirely possible other teams offered similar deals and ATL got him out of confrence. Your entitled to your opinion but muc of what you are saying is speculation more then offering reasonable reason as to why the trade didn't happen. So unless you can confirm for sure what team did or didn't offer your statement is opinion and not fact.Cornell29 wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 2:56 pm Traded a 2nd for Peters who was young and talented and the rams needed a starting corner.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
They already invested in Jackson and a 2nd in Atwell. If Jones was available before the draft. Imo the rams would have been more interested, and so would have alot of other teams. If Jones was available last year before the draft, imo he would be a ram. The rams would have spent their draft resources elsewhere other than VJ and later Atwell.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 3:16 pmI'm saying we would be bonafide contenders with this guy. And is there any proof he's out of his prime? Because last year he was as good as he's ever been. I don't understand the need to make stuff to prove some of your guys view point. We can be real and still disagree with certain things.DMRamFan wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 3:13 pm![]()
Who said we’d go to SB w this guy? Come on, that’s just silly business. He’s out of his prime. I think he has now caught the injury bug. I think he and DeSean would have had conflict. Would he have helped us? Yes, maybe… but we would have spent all our cap and begging for more players to restructure AND give up more pics? So basically we wouldn’t be ‘on the clock’ till the 5th round in what 2025 or whatever?! Nope. Thx for shoppping.
We’re fine at Receiver. Let’s spend the excess cash on spots we really need.
You know this HR.
We do need receivers. Why do you think the Rams spent anouther 2nd roundee on one and brought in Jackson? It wasn't because the Rams were happyw ith what we have I can assure you that.
To bad the falcons didn't make him available a season earlier.

Re: Jones to Tennessee for a 2nd Round Pick
Of course Ramsey wants Jones, he is a good player. But Ramsey doesn't have to make it work for the team, he doesn't have to answer for it, if it doesn't.HellRam wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 3:20 pm Appearntly Ramsey doesn't know what he's talking about either...

Talent knows talent. Whers I disagree with Jalen however is the logistics which is why Tennessee was able to aquire Jones.
Trust me if the rams traded for Jones and the move didn't work out, it wouldn't be Ramsey getting the blame for the move.

Rams have good leadership at the position with Cupp and Woods. Why mess with that?

Try to follow along, I only mentioned QB play because you wrote this....
You are possibly the most pessimistic poster I've ever encountered in the off season....
Dude have some fun once in a while. This is the time of the year where we as fans should be hopeful and optimistic....especially considering we are forecasted by Vegas to be 3rd in Superbowl odds and 2nd in the NFC.
......Or did the Linehan, Spagnola, Fisher era fuck you up forever?
What you precieve as " fact" is really total Bullshit. What "limitations" are you rambling about?but that doesn't change the fact our offense still has limitations for big plays

Just last week he was trying to sell us that Goff and Stafford have similar builds because they weigh the same....and even better, he was preaching that as far as QB builds, Goff is above average.

My god man, are you even following the discussion? This was never about "strength". Matter of fact, strength has never been mentioned. Ever
You started this BS by saying Goff has an above average build for the QB position.
No one in the universe would agree with that and this makes you look like a complete moron.
.....you know you're wrong, just admit it and I'll go away
