The 49ers gave up more for Trey Lance than:
the Bears gave up for Khalil Mack,
the Texans gave up for Laremy Tunsil,
the Rams gave up for Jalen Ramsey,
the Cardinals gave up for DeAndre Hopkins.

Well that goes without saying Mike..............Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 10:50 amAnd if Trey Lance turns into a Franchise Quarterback it will be well worth it. If he doesn't it wont.
My bet................ They will wish that they would have just stayed at 12.

Re: Draft Day Thread
I totally agree with you on this. they should have stayed put and drafted at 12 and taken the QB that fell to them. when they made the initial trade I don't think they realized that Fields was in play at the 12 spot either.NorCal RF wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 10:54 amWell that goes without saying Mike..............Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 10:50 am And if Trey Lance turns into a Franchise Quarterback it will be well worth it. On a board that they didn’t need to be in that spot and give up what they gave up to get to that spot.Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 11:04 amI think they took the Best Quarterback on the board at that point. I hope like Hell I'm wrong, and I hope you guys are telling me "I told you so" in 5 years, but I'd take Lance over Jones or Fields. Andrew Brandt's chart there really doesn't mean much as it essentially boils down to what we ALL agree upon.
Fact is Lance may have been there at 12..........................

You don’t know that. Fact is no one traded up other than Chicago and they still may have done so to get Fields. NE stayed true and still got a QB at #15. Are we saying we know for sure Lance is going to be better than Jones? Who else really, really needed a QB?

I love how you all say zero chance................
Hey you could be right but they still would have gotten a QB at 12 and kept those picks that now belong to Miami.
Beast based on what? His resume at North Dakota State? He looks good at his private workouts? Heard all this before! I have a feeling come Saturday night a lot of those defensive players from that conference will be looking for a “real” job.

Does Jimmy G request a trade now? Why would he want to be a placeholder? Does Minnesota come calling?

Special based on what? He throws the ball far? He runs well. He dominated a division that couldn’t come close to competing with the real conferences in D1? How does that relate to now playing in the NFL on Sunday’s?DMRamFan wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 11:47 amSorry NC, but no way Lance would have been there at 12. I think this years draft was about 3 QB's, then there was everyone else. With Lance being one of the 3. The kid is special. Been saying this for months. I was not happy when I heard his name w the niners. I have my worries w the niners in 2-3 seasons... Going to be a battle for years w them.... same as it always was.
I mean look at what the niners gave up to get this kid. They knew they were getting Lance the minute they finalized the trade to the 3rd spot.

Whether accurate or not, here's an NFL Network link to "Best remaining prospects available in the 2021 NFL Draft"
https://www.nfl.com/news/best-remaining ... -nfl-draft
Looks to be about a half dozen players with some Round 1 expectations left, otherwise merely a nice list to reference players available to us tonight. Should be fun!

I mean no disrespect dick but “pre-draft stuff”. That has always been a reliable source in the past..............Dick84 wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:13 pmBased on reading a ton of pre-draft stuff and following some Denver guys closely, in particular. His workouts, limited tape, and physical traits add up to a guy worth the risk. Fields dropped because of the epilepsy.. and Jones? Come on.. he was never going top 5.
He may not work out.. but enough teams were high enough on him that there's no way Lance would've dropped much.

JMO but those same words can be used for Lance. The only QB that warranted where he was drafted was Lawrence.DMRamFan wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:12 pmI think Jones will flame out personally NC. I think he was overrated to begin with. Apparently others teams did too (especially after his nightmare of a pro day)... Hence why he fell to 15. Solid back up maybe. But who knows, maybe Billacheat will make another Brady... but I think not. IMO.NorCal RF wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:06 pm You don’t know that. Re: Draft Day Thread
I can't argue much with that. Look at Fields at 11 and Jones at 15. I saw many sources with little distance between those two and Lance.NorCal RF wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:15 pmSpecial based on what? He throws the ball far? He runs well. Lol. It can be aggravating when it happens after a long wait (esp. if somebody is still around that we fans covet), but the extra picks have actually turned out to be fun as well under McVay...at least the results of those drafts have proven very successful.

I hope your right. They beat us without a QB last year so hopefully we can be ready to play this season.DMRamFan wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:38 pmand about a 1% chance the niners beat us this year.Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:35 pm 2 different arguments Nor pal, but in my estimation :
No. 1- Trey Lance can "hit or miss?" 100% accurate statement, odds of it happening 50/50.
No. 2- The Niners could have had Lance at 12? 5% accuracy and chance of happening. In my humble honest opinion of course only.

Re: Draft Day Thread
We have to guess that Stafford would have been the difference maker vs. SF these last two seasons. Very possible he would have been (last season at the least).

agree no way Lance would have been there at 12. but the story I heard this morning was 49ers were possibly on Jones early and changed their minds. Lions actually made the right pick I was very surprisedMike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 12:22 pmOf course. He could have even went 7 or 8 to not only teams trading in for him but possibly THOSE teams Detroit + Carolina. Remember, Carolina only picked up Darnolds option TODAY, possibly after not getting the QB they wanted yesterday. Detroit less likely but they could have sat him behind Goff for a year or two. ZERO chance Niners get him at 12.

I love the Lions pick too very sensible. I think they need to address the WR position next.

Re: Draft Day Thread
Penei Sewell is probably the best LT I've ever seen in college. Granted the Pac-12 isn't the SEC, let alone the NFL. But you could see early how dominating he was immediately as a true Freshman. In his two years at Oregon, I saw his man get around him maybe twice? Once maybe? Not sure I ever saw him give up a sack regardless. His blocking was savage = Merry Xmas Jared Goff.

I ran out I usually get mine from Cleveland. will have to get some more with him.DMRamFan wrote: ↑April 30th, 2021, 2:44 pmReally? No flipping way. All these years. Totally looking at things differently now. So disgusted. The worst part, is to think I cant seem to get rid of this cold. I have been in bed and on a ventilator for a week. Worst cold I have ever felt. EVER. Some tell me its a way for Government to control me so they can better script out every move I make. They already track me everywhere. I think I am going to move to the woods and cut off everything except me flip phone from 2003.
By the way OC, do you have any extra tin foil you can send me man?

With terrific visual graphics though, I must admit.
If I didn't know the truth, I'd never suspect that Roger Goodell is actually a zombie...

Re: Draft Day Thread
Can't wait for tonight. This is where Snead shines. Thoughts in no order.
No centers or guards unless they are deemed All Pro as Rams OL roster has 8 of the 11 (maybe 9) were tackles in college. Plus the Rams think they have everything covered. Won't be surprised if we don't even draft any. Zone run scheme they don't want short power guys (other than center) that's why we convert tackles. I hope we pick a Development tackle like the kids from Stanford, NDSU, Northern Iowa, Cincy or Florida (love all 5 of these guys) and keep our interior guys who are all good. I have no idea what the panic is about for our oline. It will be better with Blythe being replaced by anyone but Allen who sucks.
Two CB's n a safety
ILB if they think he is a stud, if not, don't waste the pick we have 4 that are already average.
No DL it takes 3 years to develop thus we trade for them and develop the 4 Snead talked about this winter
Speed receiver- need a jet
Edge- take a flier on a guy that is long, lean and raw. Just another edge guy doesn't do us any good as we have a couple already.
Excited an hope we trade back as picks 25-130 are arguably very similar in value and opportunity!!

Yes Minnesota- life long Rams fan. Been on the forum for years, hardly ever post. O Line for 2021 is not an issue. 2022 could be with Whit retiring and Noteboom n Corbett free agents. But 2021 we have 7 starters in the Rams eyes.
