Some teams get 9 home games compared to 8 for others could be difference between a 1 seed and bye and a third playoff game.

This 17-game schedule is a terrible idea, I'm figuring. Adding a second 'bye' week for each team (which was tried briefly in the early 1990s) would give the league another regular-season weekend without risking further injuries... :? :geek:

If you want to change it, well... become and owner and cast your vote or go use your degree for what you majored in and dont play in the NFL. Where else could you go in life professionally where you could MAYBE graduate school with a 2.0 GPA, major in sociology, automatically get $2-8M in your bank account immediately after being hired, get a few months off a year AND be in a union?.

As far as injures, they will happen regardless. This is not a bad idea or a good idea. It is strictly a business decision by the actual owners that sign everyones checks and pay the mortgages. THIS IS A BUSINESS. Owners aren't in this to 'break even'. I believe they are also going to shorten the preseason correct? IMO 4-5 games of pre season is a joke. You can figure out who should make a team after 2 maybe 3 games max.

Plus, you dont think the agents and players are working out ways to make money on the 17th game as well? You are kidding yourself if the players union hasn't already calculated these things out. And who knows, maybe this a ploy by the owners to get the players union to meet them in the middle on something.

I mean we are extending another week of professional football guys... where we can get up early on a Sunday put on our 'stretchy pants', slide our feet into those slippers, throw on a loose fitting T shirt (or a Ram jersey) and hibernate in the man cave. 1. Yes football is a billion dollar business. So what? Didnt say not everyone could do what they do. But they are doing something they love and do not need a degree or much of schooling to teach them... For being simply gifted or working their butts off, they can play a game and be paid MILLIONS FOR IT.

3. Who said they will do less work for less money, they havent even figured that out yet. The union will of course ratify money allocations from what I have read if they do move to 17 games. Or like I said, this could simply be a negotiation tactic for the new agreement coming up. We simply do not know this part of it yet.

You are making an assumption that majority of college athletes skate by but in reality most will have to finish school because they won't make the league. That is a stupid jock stereotype.

The revenue from the extra game allowed the hit to the salary cap to be less in 2021 and will probably mean a big bump in 2022. This, I guess, is the reward to the players?
