The risk is what are they paying him for what has been relatively no production the past two years? $$ numbers I have not heard.

Two is him now on roster going to take plays from Jefferson? Better not IMO. Also does this team have potentially something in Trishton Jackson that we now may not see?
Paying him on a one year deal is a risk? Imo the reward is better than the risk on a one year deal.

Why you think he will take plays from VJ. They are two different type of wrs. If he is even able to take plays from wrs that means he is playing healthy and contributing. Thats a good thing.

No matter who the Rams brought in there was risk of taking away snaps from other wrs. Even if they simply resigned JR.

At least D Jack is the 4th wr, and brings a unique skillet.

Low risk high reward move imo
Something more I am missing with this move. I never seen so much debate over a depth move for a 4th wr.

Did anyone worry about who Ricky Proehl (who like D Jack is a 4th wr and also brought a unique skillet) was stealing catches from?

Never said he would take away snaps from VJ. I said the risk is he may or will he? That’s not good IMO if he does. And we still have not seen the $ in the deal.

Again I get why they are taking a flyer on him but to say he brings a unique skill set at this venture of his career is well a big time stated reach. Big time.

Agreed. But we DO have a Top 5 HC that knows what he's doing and as a fan base we're lucky enough to leave it up to him what's best, or at least we should. Now some of these other teams (Bears, Texans) fans have every right to doubt their teams moves (Hopkins trade, Dalton signing) we, Rams fans should do no such thing, and Mac would not compromise the futures of VJ or Trishton ignorantly. Sean is bringing in DJ cause he KNOWS he can help us and more importantly he's worth it at that low price. (We dont know terms yet, but we know its low and games played based)
There you go again Mike assuming. Probably right terms will be what you say they will be but fact is we don’t know.

Ricky Proehl prior to the Rams obtaining him had played every game 6 of the previous 7 seasons including all 16 the year before. He was also 4 years younger that DJax. Sorry weak comparison.

He does bring a unique skillet. I never said he was durable, now that would be a lie. He still have the speed and he showed that in the limited snaps he played last year.
Yes the money is the biggest factor, still waiting on those.

Totally agree. People just love to question and throw out random arguments that mean very little.
Hmmm, by the time Ricky Proehl was Jackson's age we had shipped him out to Carolina. We were sellers not buyers. Plus, unlike Proehl, Jackson relies almost entirely on speed.
He just finished his second stint with the Eagles - 2 years, 23 catches. He was a waste, a nothing. Actually worse than a nothing because the Eagles were depending on him to be the "deep threat on the team". Instead, they had no deep threat at all. He is a big reason that the QB and the coach are both gone.

No goal post moving. Statement is simply Ricky Proehk was a better player when Rams acquired him then what Jackson is now. And yes a hell of a lot more durable. No one cared if RP took snaps away from Hakim in 98. We should definitely care if Jackson does to VJ.

Again Cornell and Mike we get your low risk comment but like rammer just said it’s very fair to question why even obtain him no matter how low the risk may be that’s all.

Again the proehl comparison just isn’t there Cornell like rammer has spelt out.

They have two different skill sets, but if D Jack is taking carries away from other guys then that means he is healthy and playing. Isnt that a good thing? A healthy playing D Jackson is a productive D Jackson.

Sorry but Jefferson IMO has the ability to be the best receiver on this team. I don’t care how healthy a 34 year old Jackson may end up being he is not going to provide what Jefferson can if given the chance. And if obtaining him stops the Rams from drafting a speed receiver in his early 20’s then again not good IMO.

If Jefferson becomes the best wr on the rams why do you think D Jack will take snaps from him? Their skill sets aren't even the same. The rams aren't going to not draft a wr bc they signed D Jack to a one year deal.
Rams always look ahead. They drafted VJ last year when they already had Woods, JR, and Kupp.
They drafted JR when they already had Cooks, Woods and Kupp.

The vet leadership on the rams is strong.

He believes and thinks highly of Mcvay a matter of fact i heard how when the rams were interviewing players to get a feel for Mcvay before hiring him, Desean praised Mcvay.

Last year at Tampa this is what he said

“Worst-case scenario, if anything, I would like to kind of end up in L.A., being a Ram,” Jackson said. “Sean McVay, you know we got some connections from when I was in D.C. But we’ll see how it plays out. Right now, got another year in Tampa, so we’ll see how it plays out.”

If what has been stated for a while is true then he has too much respect for McVay to do such. No concern with me in regards to DJax being a problem here.

If its low risk and low cost why is it fair to question acquiring him? He's a proven deep threat and he's not finished at 34?
Again no $$ details yet.

It is a damn fair question if he doesn’t stay on the field and produce more than he has the last two seasons no matter how low the cost ends up being. This is a player who for the most part has done nothing since 2018. We bitch about our own players in here all the time with more of a resume than he has had the past two years. See OL still playing on their rookie contracts.

Mike you do at times try to make a case that your opinion is actual fact when it is nothing more than your opinion. Just saying..................

I do agree the money thing is very important to if this was a good deal or not. I feel they got him on the cheap for this year only so DJax can show he's not washed up and try to cash in on one last good payday before retiring the hammock on the LA beaches.

Thats how I see it. Low risk high reward. If the rams were going intonthe season depending on DJax I would be concerned but he isnthe 4th wr. More likely the rams will draft another speed guy to compete / learn.

Tell me about it on the accusation. Good to have self-appointed judges here who judge more than they have sold....
Just agreeing what others have said in another thread just not as strong. Again I continue to enjoy our back n forth but you have lately dominated this forum with your opinion that you try to at times sell as fact. The “self appointed judges” may just apply also to..........

End of day I really don’t care. Buying time till draft.

Yeah I hear ya. Point is, sanbagger was right. We all pass our opinions off as close to fact. It just happens to bother you when I do it for some reason.

And the "others" in another thread??? You mean the two asshats that take umbrage with my opinion that is seconded by the Head Coach and General Manager???

Bother me? Actually not really because you do acknowledge at times that well you could be right as in others. And this is just a killing time venue for me. Opinions? I’m all in and it’s why we are here. But fine line in giving such as it relates to actually not being the case yet.

well I for one who you are dead wrong. of course it depends on who is sitting there at 57. but if a strong OL or LB is there I would love to see them go that route.

This^

If a center is there that you value you take him. You can get a WR later.

Opinions? I’m all in and it’s why we are here. But fine line in giving such as it relates to actually not being the case yet.
Good point...while we wait for the draft it is still fun to talk about the free agency and speculate what's gonna happen.

That said....if a poster is gonna insist a change is gonna happen you still should man up and say you were wrong...even if there is some circumstances you weren't aware of because guess what?, there are plenty of circumstances we aren't aware of.

I like when a guy makes a call and stands by it if he's right or wrong...I like the conviction Mike showed when he predicted the DW changes....don't agree with the backtracking now....especially after the "I fucking called it" post.

Just my thoughts and I still enjoy reading both of you guys...and....you and I are not the forum police.

Good Post sanny. Understand your point on "backtracking" but dont you think there's a SLIGHT extenuating circumstance why I did? I mean, just a slight one....anything in the news lately about lawsuits???
this may increase his chances of getting traded now. his stock has gone down immensely. there are still a couple of teams out there that are still interested.
