My pov he may have been worth it but currently on the backside of his career at 30 I don't think. The Steelers were in a rock and a hard place he is the leader of the defense and a perennial all pro HOFer most likely but cost verses expectation. This deal is very similar to Ramsey a once superstar now slowly declining imo.

2024 he started 17 games and had 11.5 sacks
2023 he started 17 games and had 19 sacks
2022 he started 10 games and had 5.5 sacks
2021 he started 15 games and had 22.5 sacks

To me he is trending down maybe a bad year but this was over 17 games. 2021 was his best year. In general his Tackles either solo or assisted have stayed consistent.

I guess they could have traded him and gotten a kings ransom a first maybe 2 or a first, and possibly 2 seconds but what it says to the fan base as well as great players on the team so there are damned if they do or damned if they don't.


As for the fans and what they might think if they traded him... IMO that's where you have to have a transparent relationship and explain exactly what went down and why from the team perspective. That is if you want to continue with their good graces when it involves a player on the elite level.

I would have tested the trade market.. and if I got perceived value, then I make that trade rather than continue to set these contract trends. Especially since we are talking about an edge rusher making this kind of coin. To me this kind of trading is what keeps a team relevant indefinitely. On the other hand, loading the Cap down with these high end deals across the roster is how you're gonna start declining. You just can't keep a team together for a decade anymore in today's game. I do miss that.

Great defenses have great middle linebackers.

We have a bunch of later rounders and UDFA and cast-offs so the jury is still out on this D.

I agree, we could be great for decades if we find a gem in the middle but I have my doubts until proven otherwise.

A huge 3rd preseason for Bennett. He will get most of the game reps. JMO make or break for him in regards to being with this team in 26.


Fair enough he hasn't proven anything in the NFL but he has proven he can come back from adversity many a times. I'd love to see him make it as I've quietly rooted for him since he was drafted.


I would like to see him make it also………..

I don't worry much about the cap...it's fun for us to talk about but we really don't know all the wording of the contracts.... fortunately for us the Rams have one of the best capologists in the business

Up 21-14 on SF 28. 4th and 3. He passed up a 45 yard FG to go for it. The Rams did convert but not a smart play. You wanna go up 2 possessions there. I wish he trusted Mevis to see what he’s got.

Seattle is very tough, and Stafford and Adams were not in sync like they have been the past month, but don’t confuse the Rams’ win with the Chargers’ loss today.

Good grief… Dallas got both ‘26 and ‘27 Packers first rounders… so this means Dallas has 4 first round picks in two drafts (2 in ‘26 and 2 ‘27)… talk about major negotiating factors for Dallas.

Hypothetical question here …Maybe they trade them all to nab Arch or another top QB?

Say the Browns win worst team… currently Cleveland already has TWO first round picks in ‘26. Say they trade w Dallas and take their 2 first round picks… that’s FOUR first round picks IN THE SAME DRAFT. Not sure we’ve ever seen this, but this could happen. 4 first rounders is LIFE changing to ANY franchise.

I have watched Verse specifically on our D and do not see the same effort or player this year. There are several plays where upon the snap of the ball he simply stands opposite the OT and does not power rush or speed rush to the QB ? Some have said it is a contain assignment (?) but it is a frequent move for him this year. I have not looked up his PFF grades recently but his pressures & sacks must be does. In a front 7 that now is basically Young & him as pass rush players the Ram pass rush is way down. Elite edge players attack at the snap and we have no sudden speed rushers with this currently in their game. This is not a jag about designed containment or bend but don’t break - this is about our lack of pressure / sacks in our D this year. In big games vs quality QBs this will compromise our D as our coverage group is nothing to write home about. Verse & Young ( he has done his part) need to provide more pressure than we have seen to date. McVay and his post game “stats are for losers” comment not withstanding the Rams are underperforming in this area and it is going to matter a lot as we go forward.

We were damn lucky to win this game; offense looked really bad during the 2nd half.


Eagles and Niners were lucky to beat the rams.
When its said and done, all that matters is record.

Rams won't face a D as good as Seattle until they play Seattle again.
