After saying after the 49ers game they would “look into adding cornerback” help,
He is now saying the Rams won’t be adding help.
"That hasn't been something that we've talked about," he said about the prospect of adding more cornerbacks to the roster. "You know, we're always looking at ways to be able to upgrade the roster. I think, those guys did a good job and we'll continue to lean into them."

    Last Friday:
Sean McVay said during his call with reporters on Friday that the Rams will “look into” adding a cornerback to aid with the struggles on the back end.

    Figures

Imo that means the Rams arent ready to make a deal yet. Rams have to wait closer to the trade deadline to get the best deals and more players to choose from.
So, to keep team morale up among the dbs, he'll dismiss it for now. When the trade deadline approaches, Boom a deal is made. JMHO

It was the defense that led the charge into the playoffs.
I think it took some time for the defense and Shula to figure out a cohesive plan.

Not only that but the unit was/is extremely young with serious deficiency at ILB, the disaster of White at CB the first quarter season and compounded by Not bringing back Witherspoon sooner with just one other slightly above average corner in Williams on the roster. The defense was WAY better by the last quarter season. And I think Forbes seriously will be that nickel ball hawk guy as an improvement. Shula didca fine job overall and I do not miss Raheem and his conservative calls.

Former 35th overall pick in 2022 draft.

Just 25 years old. Good slot press corner (can play outside as well but from what i heard he is better inside). He likes to mix it up and get physical. Rams did have a need at the slot, bc none of their corners are at there best there.

    He can tackle and blitz.

I like the trade, he is a talented player that can start in the slot and didnt cost much. With that said, the rams biggest issue is defending big physical wrs, and I doubt this move address it.

Hope Spoon returns after bye week. That would help alot

  • June 16th, 2025, 9:30 am Re: The million dollar question do we trade for a LT? June 16th, 2025, 9:30 am Re: The million dollar question do we trade for a LT?

Well it depends on how Humphries performs and the clot prognosis for Jackson.

I think most poster have a great deal of hope this season in all phases of our team even at competition at punt returner and ILB. Yet we all saw what a derailed OL did last season in the first 5 games.

Stafford is a true pocket passer who depends on his blindside not being an issue. With Whit then Alaric I think he and the team felt comfortable. Now with the 2nd stint of blood clots on Jackson a cloud surrounds the position unless you think Humphries has recovered from his ACL tear and is fine.

The obvious is wait and see how Humphries does with true game simulation I am not sure we get a true measure. The other answer is fortify the IL with a TE or RB staying in or chipping giving that extra second and a cleaner pocket. Yet the downside is we can flood the pattern with a lot of receivers. It is very clear to me great teams usually have dominant OLs. I wouldn't call ours elite but I would say top 10. We can't have a big misstep here.

Lastly what are our trade options I read the article that came out today listing a bunch of back up names mainly not sure they are way better. Also the common thoughts is every team believes they are Superbowl bound at the bg of the year and won't trade a solid starting LT at this juncture maybe at the trade deadline it's a possibility but LTs, QBs tend not to get traded at the deadline.

Love to hear you alls thought this is a very important issue for the team.

what LT are you talking about? any quality LT you trade for we will have to over pay for then IMO you pass. this is why IMO we royally F'ed up in the draft by not addressing this position with our 1st pick. anyway we will see what happens

Getting into weeds but Mevis is on PS. When do you activate him? Niners game? Or if not impressed by him in camp never and he will be released next couple of days weeks? If he is activated does someone else have to go down to PS?

NOt sure when they actually activate the player they want for the game . I think it is friday but I could be wrong. I am hoping this is the guy kicking for us sunday.

An NFL team must activate a player from the practice squad before the game day inactive list is announced, which is 90 minutes before kickoff. A player can be elevated for a single game and automatically reverts to the practice squad afterward, and each player can be elevated up to three times a season before the team must sign them to the active roster for a fourth elevation..so it does give us some time to make a decision on him. But we are also traveling this week so its not ideal.

The Rams have to keep improving in the areas that have allowed them to be competitive against the NFC West.

The 49ers used to play more physical football than the Rams, But now I think our pass rush and defensive front is better than theirs, I think our offensive line is better than theirs as a unit, However, we have to continue to feed these two areas

Neglecting the linebacker position in our division is stupid, Seattle is going to run the ball, San Francisco is going to run the ball and throw short crossing routes and use their tight end, The Cardinals are going to try to run the ball and you need to mirror Murray. We need to improve our linebackers specifically for our division

Because he see's exactly what some of us see... and that is the Rams catching that McVay and Co Stride... He knows what we are like when we start gelling. I'm serious, this has happened many times before w the Rams... we get on these heaters and we just start playing good, smart football. I am not saying we wont lose again this season, BUT... this team, when we are healthy... is unstoppable.

after years of playoff futility, it felt like we were just lucky to be there. It was a weird year, a lot of injuries in the beginning of the year and we were like five and four. Then we pounded Seattle in one of the greatest defensive performances ever. Squeaked into playoffs after finishing very strong behind Vince Ferragamo.

Actually, I believe that the 1979 Rams were 4-5 and later 5-6, before going on a four-game winning streak to clinch their seventh straight NFC West title.

During the regular season, our team lost by 6-30 to the Cowboys and 6-21 to the Buccaneers, the two teams that the Good Guys defeated in the NFC playoffs in order to reach the Super Bowl.

Had Jack Youngblood been able to move laterally during that contest, the Steelers wouldn't have had time to connect on those two long passes which changed the course of Super Bowl XIV in the fourth quarter, I'll always believe that... :? :) :geek:

First it’s an expiring rookie contract that Tennessee is more interested in getting any pick than moving into a second contract with him. I suspect more of this from Tennessee………..

Second so many of these trades is a staff seeing a player and saying he fits well with our scheme and we think we can get him to play well in it at a low cost. See Forbes. And if they do resign him he won’t cost a lot…………

I wouldn’t be surprised if this our DB trade when trade deadline passes. JMO this team is not going to trade future high picks for anyone in this trade deadline. The value of having them has been quite obvious the last few years…………..

    ^ All of this.

    • Rams love guys on last of their contracts years... play well for minimum dollars, earn a roster spot maybe next season, if not... thanks for being a Ram for a few months. (low risk, potential high reward, which we have done for years)

And McVay said an hour ago that they feel he fits into what they do defensively and they have liked him as far back as his college days at Auburn………

This stuff isn’t hard to figure out, see why…….

I like the video I have seen on him. And like cornell stated he looks like a good tackler……..

  • July 24th, 2025, 7:17 pm Rewatching the Rams Philly playoff game we beat ourselves July 24th, 2025, 7:17 pm Rewatching the Rams Philly playoff game we beat ourselves
Kyren Williams fumbled twice. The first one was a combo fault of him and Stafford on a bad handoff netting only a FG.

2 tipped up in the air plays in the first half (Rozeboom & Witherspoon) Rams couldn't make the int.

The second one Kyren fumbled by a punch out by Jalen Carter then Philly recovered and ran it back a bunch of yards netting a FG should have been a TD but Lane Johnson false started which killed the drive. Huge mistake.

Philly had a 3rd and 14 on their own 5 and they got huge play keeping the drive alive. Rams would have gotten the ball back.

Rams had a 3rd and 4 and Puka dropped a perfect pass to the sidelines really easy catch. Another massive mistake.

Stafford fumbling in the 4th quarter Philly recovered.

4th and 4 - Philly completed the pass netting a FG.

Robinson dropping a deep over easy catch. But he had a really good game.

Xavier Smith not fielding the punt netting an extra 12 yards loss. Huge mistake this was before the Rams last drive with 2minutes to go.

Dotson false start at the end. Worsed time ever to have that penalty.

Then Limmer being left alone on an island against Jalen Carter with no help causing a huge sack on Stafford and the game. Honestly this is on McVay bc he needed Kyren to stay in and help in the most crucial situational play absolutely stupid call on McVays part. The game and ouncers even stated in the 3rd quarter when Rams don't double Carter they have issues.

Bad tackling in the first half before the snow netting a TD by Hurts and various other plays netting lots of extra yards. 2 long TDs by Barkley bad scheme and bad tackling.

Tough loss if we limited these mistakes we would have won the game most likely.

My takeaway the defensive Line was amazing and Fiske was out after part way through the 2nd quarter. Safety, tons of sacks huge sack on Philly's last drive giving the Rams a chance to win the game.

ILBs were terrible poor tackling out of position and couldn't get to the sidelines to stop plays.

Stafford held the ball too long in a lot of plays.

    Evans & Karty were great.

The biggest takeaway was the OL they were really sub par especially when Kyren flared out to the right why - he wasn't the target why wasn't he in on this play to block? McVay needed to keep Kyren in more and TE needs to chip on Havensteins man. This issue is going to happen potentially again this season. If we want to go to a SB we need to be more conservative on long developing pass downs or crucial plays or we need to win the 1st seed to stay in warm weather situation with great footing.

As you can see we had a ton of stupid mistakes. If we eliminated just half of them it may of netted us the game and we almost won anyway.

  • November 10th, 2025, 12:42 pm Re: McVay : Great O adjustments November 10th, 2025, 12:42 pm Re: McVay : Great O adjustments

    The crazy part...

I think this offense is just getting started...

Never have I seen Stafford and this offense so electric, and the astounding part to me, is they seem to be getting better every game. Limiting mistakes, and just like in years past, our OL was a bit shaky to start, but now... they have it figured out and the guys in the right spots.

Sean and Matt are on a level that no one can really understand... the calls coming in, only a very select few QB's could do, but Sean is like a mad scientist, looking at his creation of X's and O's and looking at a QB and Offense who gets it and can actually do it (not like a deer in the headlights from past QB's, sorry Goff moms)... ,I am sure somme plays maybe even shocks Sean himself from time to time. The no look passes, Sean is like a kid in the candy story watching what Matt and this entire O is doing.

There is a special connection in the offense right now like I have never seen before. Last season it got close, but this is a different level. To Williams now being able to hold onto the Rock, the continuity in the OL, Matt trusting his WR's to be where they are supposed to be, so much so, Matt can even throw in some razzle dazzle to confuse defenders that much more... its actually hilarious and awesome all at the same time.

right now, its like watching men vs the boys when our O takes the field.

Colin on the Herd just now is losing his marbles saying the Rams are now hands down the best team in the league... Rams are on a burner like we saw last year, except this year's offense is a whole new level... and I have to agree w Colin.

I've always been big on Stafford as a Ram. His effectiveness imo has been directly tied to his O-line...and right now the O-line is playing really well (run/pass block). Lord knows Stafford has a ton of weapons around him this year as well. Rams 13 personnel is almost unstoppable, so of course we're seeing it a lot . Playbook is wide open and Stafford is obviously elite.

The whiner pass rush is not good tho, so the SEA defense will be the test. I've had them as way more of a challenge than the whiners for most the season. Both SEA and Rams could easily be undefeated at this point. This game should be a monster.

I'm not sure I can handle a season if it will be like this. The GSOT would have won this game by at least 2 touchdowns. SB rams would have won by at least 2 touchdowns. If we are gonna be a contender- you don't blow games like this. I can't watch. I hope they fix things and get more guys involved in pass game (tight ends???!!!). And don't be stupid and run what works. We were running all over them. Run, Run, then dink and dunk. Move the chains. Game over. Stop trying to score highlight reels. Winning makes the highlight reel.

I think he played great in the Seattle loss 457 and 3 tds no ints to me that is an MVP performance. They cant ding him for a super odd 2pt play a poor punt decision on STs and poor coverage. He even when asked to perform in OT scored a TD. That is a mark of an MVP.

ST the answer is easy get a new ST coach………

McVay is making bad decisions at critical times with his play calling most weeks. Today another example with not kicking the FG to go up by 17 as well as handing the ball to Willingham that last play instead of just giving it to Williams again. Did we not see what Baltimore did handing it to Flowers when Henry was starting to get it going again in 2nd half?

I’m not sure who in the organization can take McVay aside and say Sean look you continue to out think things when there is no need but someone needs to. He isn’t seeing it on his own………

Imo, Rams longterm plans with Bennett is to be a solid cheap #2 qb. A qb that can fill in a game or two for the starter. Imo he is well on his way to being just that.

This could be JG last year here. JG been looking good and will more likely leave next year for a chance to start.

Beyond this year Stafford is a huge question, that will impact the rams direction in the draft for 2026 when it comes to qb.
