The NFC West has been in existence since 1970, so there have been 55 divisional titles thus far.

The Rams have won fifteen of them from '70-2024, along with the 49ers they're the only team to have played in the division for all 55 seasons.

Here are five of the years during which our team won the NFC West: '79, '99, '01, '18 & '21.

Hmmmm, I'm wondering what this historical pattern is suggesting...??

Historical Patterns can be broken...
ie.. The Japanese had never lost a war in their entire history until WWII

But I do get what your saying Coach. I think we'd all prefer the No/1 seed and have HF but...
The rest of the league's trying to win too and they don't always cooperate...

I'm hardly expecting any Rams' playoff opponents to be 'cooperative' during the postseason either, especially since they will have home-field advantage, plus if our team manages to advance into the NFC's divisional round it would be facing a major weather disadvantage against pretty much any opponent it would face on the road.

Also, the Good Guys have hardly been 'road warriors' against conference contenders during the regular season, losing three out of four away contests against them. One of those losses (Eagles) came early in the season while another (Panthers) was to a warm-weather team, so a negative climate wasn't an issue in those two collapses.

There are compelling reasons why the Rams have never even reached the Super Bowl as a 'wild card' playoff entry, and now all of those issues will be facing our team once again.

Of course, it's not mathematically impossible for the Good Guys to somehow win the NFC championship during the approaching postseason competition, however realistically it's damned unlikely. I'm going to hope for the best, yet I won't be expecting more than a road victory in relatively warm weather, at Charlotte or Tampa, during these upcoming playoffs.

Hopefully I'll end up being proven wrong, still it's true that Hayley Mills was a much better 'Pollyanna' than I'll ever be...

The Problem I have with your doomsday assessments and fear mongering Coach is that I haven't seen the team that is better than we are. We've contributed largely to each of our 4 losses. We've had the 32nd ranked ST's all year and the Defense has melted down in the 2nd half of a few games. Yet we're still regarded as the team to beat. We've played a sched of 12 playoff contenders in 15 games. I think we're playoff ready and I'm not yet giving up on winning the division. The Hags finish with 2 road games and they struggle more on the road so we'll see. Both teams they play are still in the hunt. And I think the Bears will take care of the 9ers next week. I don't care if we don't end up the No'1 seed just as long as we win the division.

Well, winning the NFC West, as our team did last year, is obviously priority #1 after getting into the postseason competition, because it guarantees the Rams at least one home playoff game.

Unfortunately, achieving that objective was largely dependent on the Good Guys winning last Thursday's showdown at the Seahawks, which they didn't.

Of course I'm aware that there is still a mathematical possibility of our team somehow winning the division this year, however I'm merely finding it to be quite unlikely.

Should the Rams win out vs. the Falcons and Cardinals, they will almost certainly enter the postseason as the #5 seed, which would gave them one warm-weather away playoff matchup at the Panthers or Buccaneers. After that though, assuming that they're able to advance in the 'wild card' round, there would be a cold-weather contest on the road during the divisional round.

It's purely an emotional reaction, however extremely long-time fans of the Good Guys will be remembering back to late December of 1969 in Metropolitan Stadium...

This season there is no clear cut pecking order outside of most probably feel TB or Carolina are weaker than the rest. But all 6 are possible SB contenders so seeding means less this season imo other than facing adverse weather conditions.

In terms of the Rams I hate that most likely 2 of the 3 playoff games if the Rams keep winning will be in cold or rainy locations, Seattle, Philly assuming they win their games.
