Exactly my thoughts. A round 2 pick shouldn't take 3 years to make an impact. Round 2 picks are drafted to have an immediate impact and be starters . I was definitely expecting a bigger impact from him....we'll.... Hopefully this changes, eventually...... Your competition is Parkinson, Allen and higs and you are still number 4 in the depth chart? Gaines and mclendon were not 2nd round picks so we can't compare to them.
They're fine at TE, and will only get better, and set for the next few years. Maybe several years. I dont want MS throwing more to the TE just to justify his draft position.
TF was drafted because Snead/Mcvay lived his tools, and wanted to secure that spot for the next 3-5 years.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
Team TE TD’s:
Niners:11
Rams:10
Bills:9
Cards:8
Ravens:8
Everyone else: 7 or less.
Sorry not seeing the problem here at the position. Yep I know Ferguson thread but does it matter how the position produces? Do we really care as a rookie second round draft pick he isn’t living up to some expectations while the position as a whole has had a hell of a season so far? As good as any TE group in the league so far. And let’s not forget the group’s ability to block and route running. All a part of the entire picture. All a part of the reason why this team is 10-3.
Ferguson had 45 snaps last Sunday. He is on the field. Again if the ball isn’t thrown to him……………. If the position wasn’t producing then………
#18 will be just fine. It the Rams way with most rookies. Probably isn’t changing. Again if the position is producing………… 45 snaps. This rookie is playing……………

TEs need to block AND catch passes; his forte is to run routes and not mix it up at the LOS.
I am impressed with Parkinson; he's big and bad and catches the damn ball; Allan is coming along too.

Parky is TE1 IMO....shaping up that way. That was my only point on TF. I'm thrilled with the group as a whole. Just thought especially with Higs out, he would look like the clear TE1. Hopefully he gets to that next level...breaking tackles, YAC, red zone threat, 1st down machine.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
Being 2nd to Park isn't a bad thing. Park is playing good this year. Being 2nd or even 3rd on the depth chart is fine too, bc the rams are playing 3 tight ends 50 percent of the time, in many games. All 3 tight ends can catch. So despite the Rams playing 13 personnel, the opposing D must respect them as a receiver.RAMFAN71 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 12:05 pm Parky is TE1 IMO....shaping up that way. I can't think of the last time the rams had 4 good tight ends (including Higbee), that are all threats in the passing game.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
Agreed here. We are all setup at TE. I did not see Parky's play coming from what I saw last year. He really is coming along in this Rams offense.Cornell29 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 1:04 pmBeing 2nd to Park isn't a bad thing. Park is playing good this year. Way too early to put this guy into the atwell jefferson and Akers category. All who got more reps and years.

I don’t dislike the player I just dislike where he was picked. When you don’t have much talent at CB, taking a TE when you already had Allen/Parkinson/Higbee was redundant.
Allen or Parkinson could handle all the TE snaps and you’d never miss Ferguson. But some of the guys the Rams play in the secondary you certainly miss having a better guy there.
Really feels like we’ve wasted some of 2nd rounders:
Taylor Rapp
Van Jefferson
Cam Akers
Tutu Atwell
These 4 came in a 3 year period. Not good picks.
Last couple years:
Avila - that was good since he plays regularly
Fiske- gave up a ton but at least he plays
Ferguson….ready to dump him in the Atwell/Jefferson/Akers group
Ferg has a talent skillset that none of the other TEs on the Rams have. He just need more time to get the playbook down. I wish he was more polished too, but if he was more polished, coming out of the draft, he would have easily been a top 15 pick, and out of reach for the Rams.
" Ferg has a talent skillset that none of the other TEs on the Rams have "
Which one ? To me he looks just like all the other TEs we have....very slow and mediocre . I was expecting him to be #1 in the depth chart , it is not like he would be competing against La porta and Kittle . His competition is very " meh "

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
He's not producing like he did in College because of he's not TE1 like he was in College and the Rams scheme favors their WR's as many have pointed out. As Mr Jeanty is finding out in LV, big difference between College and Pro! Again as previously mentioned, year 3 .......
He'll get his chance and he needs to be ready for it when it comes. They're getting him ready now...

The ability to get open down the field, which he has done multiple times. Stafford missed him a few times, unfortunately.brasilrams wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 5:36 pmCornell29 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 4:31 am

The only reason we are focused on TF is because the spot where he was drafted. Or else this would not be any discussion. Same deal with Atwell.DVA_ram33 wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 5:41 amAnd it only took him 5 years to get there... Yea. Im not seeing it either. I cant remember a time in my almost 60 years of being a fan that the Rams have had such a productive, talented group of TEs. From what I'm reading, the complaint seems to be "he was a 2nd round pick, why isn't he getting targeted like Kelce?"
I will say this. If the TE ever becomes the main focus in this offense, somebody needs to be fired.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
I’m glad you mentioned Davis. He is playing well.
Rewatched the first half of the Cards game. Both Ferguson and Allen had multiple Really good blocks at the LOS to spring Kyren n Corum. Rewound a few times on each to see how good they were………….
Again a few just see where was he drafted and why isn’t he catching 10 passes a game. Ferguson is doing the “little” things to help this team win when out there. And those who question McVay’s “red shirt program” well I look at it these rookies appear to be getting really well coached behind the scene to be ready to start in a year or two. That said I don’t think Ferguson has been “red shirting” this year. Far from it. Contributing to winning is what it appears to be………….

Exactly. I am fine waiting 3 years for a 5th round pick. Not fine waiting that long for a second rounder.

Maybe… but does that skillset alone really warrant a second-round pick? It seems to me that in about three years we’re going to be questioning this pick just like we did with Akers, Tutu, etc. And that’s OK — the Rams draft well overall, but they can’t get every pick right.Cornell29 wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 3:32 amThe ability to get open down the field, which he has done multiple times. JMO we won’t be questioning the Ferguson pick in a year, maybe this year by seasons end………
The kid has all the physical skills to be a very good TE in this league. Again JMO that has already been seen………..

Agreed
I questioned the pick when it was made, but seeing how Mcvay is using 13 personnel and Ferg skillset of being able to get open, down the field, made me a believer. I get what McSnead seen.

When the last time the rams had a tight end that can get open down the field? I like Higbee but he was more of a get open short to mid type of tight end, that was a good blocker and run screens.brasilrams wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 9:33 amMaybe… but does that skillset alone really warrant a second-round pick? Unlike TuTu, Ferg fits the offense. He is a big body that can line up as the slot wr or te. With that said, we agree that time will tell.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
I never questioned the pick- we needed a TE. Now that we are going 13 man and have turned the redzone O from 1 of McVays weak points...to an NFL best...I like the pick even more. My only concern was that at first he was NOT playing. And now- he's a big part. I am still surprised? that he is not grabbing more catches and Parky is the scoring TE thus far it seems. My concern is there is something he lacks in his head maybe that is limiting his play making. But again as everyone said- we got a lot of playmakers and not enough plays for everyone.

What about the throw from Stafford on that Ferguson catch! 18 yards, tight window, right there ..Cornell29 wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 11:29 amWhen the last time the rams had a tight end that can get open down the field? Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
Im not questioning the pick at all. I love what we are seeing out of TF. One thing that hasn't been discussed. It could also be possible that Mcvay is grooming the TE in preparation for a young QB in 2, or maybe even 1 year.brasilrams wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 9:33 amMaybe… but does that skillset alone really warrant a second-round pick? Stafford doesn't need it, but the best tool for a rookie QB is a big TE outlet. No rookie is going to thread the needle to Puka time after time, so TF's days of key contribution could come as early as next year.

Re: Rookie TE Ferguson : what is going on ?
Agreed, he isnt like Aaron Donald who just quit after he got his SB and awards. Stafford is closer to a Brady type that enjoys the game even after his successes. The only thing that can change that is a head injury or serious body injury that could jeopardize his longterm health. Great to see the Rams OL provide top protection for Stafford.brasilrams wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 10:43 pmStafford is not going anywhere anytime soon , dude is the MVP , he has at least 3 years of elite football left .Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑December 10th, 2025, 10:32 pm
