Colts bringing in 8-time Pro Bowl QB Philip Rivers in for a workout.
Well Philip, if you make the team, please beat Seattle for us.

Sonny Jurgensen’s still alive. He’s only 91. https://commanderswire.usatoday.com/sto ... 752988007/
Why not bring him in too?
If that doesn’t work out, try that Billy Kilmer kid. He’s only 86.

Re: Elder Abuse?
Another example of a desperate QB league. Draft reaches, poor starters, poor back-up QB’s…………..
It is why this should be a fan base that wants Stafford to play as long as he wants to and should not get in a uproar if he tries to get more $$$$ out of this team……………

Me? I couldn’t care less either way. Enjoying Sundays with great QB play from the Ram’s QB is all I care about. He provides that better than anyone……….

Re: Elder Abuse?
I'll tell ya this NC, if Stafford wants top QB money next season, he sure damn deserves it. So let's all just drop 'if he asked for more money' because IF he decides to come back, you know hes going to want more. So, lets all just accept that and go here...NorCal RF wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 10:30 am Another example of a desperate QB league. Draft reaches, poor starters, poor back-up QB’s…………..

Currently is 16th (@ $42M), and is having an MVP year... I have thought this would be his last season, (and still do at times, seeing Kelly and girls at games) ... but then again, the way he is playing. He could literally go 2-3 more seasons. I still can't believe he is making less than Kyler Murray who is about to be cut. BUT we all know why Stafford did this, because he saw Tom Brady take less all to make a stronger team around him. So, will Matt do this again? Hmmmm
Let me ask you this NC, if you were Snead... and your CAP is $307M and currently have $91M in CAP Space (see link below)... Stafford ALREADY accounts for $48.2M in 2026, so say we give him an additional $5-10M to make him a top 5 paid for '26? So, say we give him $10M, that leaves $81M in cap space.. I think we do what we have always done, and that is rework some current contracts to sign the guys we have to KEEP for next season, go after Corners, Center, Safety in draft... I think we will have plenty in CAP space to make this team even better. Again, I know we have to sign some current Rams for next season: Screen shot below of '26 Current Rams Free Agents:
IMO, I am ok either offering Havs less (if we will accept less) or letting him walk altogether. Tutu, You know how I feel about that. $10M again, NO WAY. Gone. Higs... remains to be seen, Im just not sure the juice is worth the squeeze anymore. I would sign Queenberry, Lake of course... I am really on the fence w a lot of these guys..
I know I had a lot of questions, here... but I'd love to hear your opinion Coach...

I’ll start by saying one team’s stupidity, AZ/Murray, Should not dictate what you do. That said………….DelMar wrote: ↑December 9th, 2025, 10:56 amI'll tell ya this NC, if Stafford wants top QB money next season, he sure damn deserves it. Absolutely I give Stafford that bump in pay if he wants it in 2026. How quick can I get the contract to you to sign…………
Higs is owed $2.1m next year whether he is on roster or he isn’t. He may just stay from where I sit because………….
Parkinson is a $7m cap savings if not here. You bet he has played well this year. But when you list all of your soon to be players that need to be extended, you don't want to lose #9, and why you drafted Ferguson well………..
$7m is $7M and if you cut Darius Williams, a $7.5m savings, then there is your $ for Stafford. And again you have Higbee, Ferguson, and Allen under contract…………
Havenstein is the same as Higbee. You have to pay him $6.9m to stay in 26 or you take the same cap hit if you cut him. 27? He is still a $2.8m cap hit if not on roster. You may have no choice but to keep him a a back-up in 26…………..
Adams and Dotson are both a big cap savings in 26 if cut. That being said they stay and I pay them if it was my call…………

Well, Weddle was on the couch for awhile and it worked out great for the Rams.. So why not an all time great like Rivers? It will be interesting in the least.

Why sign just for the practice squad? Seems like a waste of time

Examples of this is also why the NFL needs to change the trade deadline rules to be basically like no deadlines. If the Colts could trade for a QB there’d be no way they’d bring in anyone off the street. And there’d be teams lined up ready to make a deal with them.
It’d be funny if Rivers did get in a game and played ok and Brady decided to come back after taking 2 years off.

Re: Elder Abuse? Philip Rivers signs w Colts (PS)
Didn't he do "Poor side of town"?
Colts were 7-1 and then had their bye week and since have lost 4 of 5 and they lost Jones because they lost their Mojo!
They haven't been the same Offense...
Rivers or anyone else isn't going to get it back for them either AFAIC. Once it snowballs like it has in INDY, it's tough to stop the swoon.
They'll probably end up trying him with some 1st team reps to see how far away from game speed he really is so we'll know more after a couple days of practice and if they put him on the roster or not.
Colts remaining games... @ SEA and HOU, vs SF and JAX... they may not win again and end up losing 8 of 9 and finishing 8-9.
Thankful it isn't us.

I love it that they're bring Rivers in. Always liked him, and hus savy alone will be an upgrade. With Jones down, and Riley injured, Rivers is probably as good of a choice they could have made.
I especially hope he plays, and lights it up Sunday!

Bengals should have cut Joe Flacco and allow him to sign with the Colts. Joe B is back and they are out of the playoffs anyway.
I need the colts to beat Seattle and SF.

Re: Elder Abuse? Philip Rivers signs w Colts (PS)
We all need that!
9ers D, 12th vs the run, 25th vs the pass and 8th in points per game allowed
Hags D, 4th vs the run, 11th vs the pass, 2nd in PPG. 1 less point allowed then the No.3 Rams.
I doubt Indy beats either w/o Jones. Hope I'm wrong. Maybe Taylor can get it going again
