Not Surprised

Well, every year when it comes to the Draft and Cut Down Day, I know it is going to be a slap in the face for the fans. It's almost like Sean and Les spend time figuring out how to piss off the fan base. This year seems to have been the biggest in some time for the cutdown day. Here are some of my takeaways on the roster and cuts..........
QB (3) Stafford, Garoppolo and Bennett. With Bennett's play we obviously had to keep 3 on the roster even though with Staff and Garop we should be able to go with 2.
RB (3) Williams, Corum and Hunter. With these 3 we can move forward as long as we have help on the PS and fortunately we have Schrader and Rivers who were not claimed.
WR (6) Nacua, Adams, Atwell, Whittington, Smith and Mumpfield. Why we resigned Atwell is beyond me, he has done NOTHING in his Rams career to justify a 10-million-dollar contract, let alone a guaranteed roster spot. IMO we could get the same production out of PS players Presley, Edwards or even released players Covey and Stoops.
TE (4) Higbee, Ferguson, Parkinson and Allen. I guess we have to carry 4 because of Higbee's health issues, maybe it's time to move on, with the way Ferguson looks, I would look to be moving Higbee while you could get something for him. Parkinson has done nothing to make me think he should be guaranteed a roster spot and the same goes for Allen. It's time to get rid of the norm and make some changes at this position. Can you imagine a 2 TE set with Ferguson and another highly talented TE talent? Maybe a Kyle Pitts from Atlanta who has underachieved so far in his career or a Michael Mayer of the Raiders, who I believe they are looking to move since they have Bowers. With 2 offensive weapons you could carry the rest as blockers.
OL (10) Jackson, Avila, Shelton, Dotson, Havenstein as Starters Humphries, Quessenberry, Limmer, Dedich and McClendon Jr. Hard to argue here, Humphries is a great backup for Jackson, I wasn't really in favor of a Shelton return, but I can buy the reason for bringing him back, especially with the way Limmer has performed in preseason, but getting bumped may have something to do with that, but not a good excuse. I have been up in the air on Dedich, but he has looked great this preseason and McClendon Jr has the versatility. Here is where I start, the Rams had the vision to bring in Lampkin IV and the kid does a fantastic job, a huge PFF rating and we can't find him a spot, this is a kid who looks to be something very special and all we did was give him a place to audition for the Eagles, who we want to beat and go to the Super Bowl. Then there is KT Leveston, here is a kid who played well in preseason, and low and behold, we trade him for a 7th round pick, how many 7th round picks will we have? I get we probably would have lost him if he were on waivers. but maybe we add a spot and PS Quessenberry and have spots for Lampkin and Leveston. We brought back Arcuri, Bowles and McMahon to the PS. This is the 3rd season I believe for Arcuri, when do we cut ties with these guys? I see potential in Bowles, but what has McMahon done, has he been in a game? I would take a feeler on some of the guys released from other teams or even Wedig instead of Arcuri.
DL (7) Ford, Turner, Fiske, Davis, Murchison, Johnson and Hamilton. Murchison really? Johnson deserves a spot based on his preseason but Hamilton did not impress anyone. Did we need to carry 7? I'll bet the last 3 would have cleared waivers and could have made the PS.
OLB (4) Verse, Young, Stewart and Hampton. I guess we have to carry 4, I was not impressed with Hampton in preseason, I think Jackson played better and should have been given the 4th spot.
ILB (4) Speights, Landman, Dolac and Reeder. I am all in with Dolac, I love this move, but his college stats should have been enough to get him drafted somewhere, but we lucked out. Ok this is the one that really has me going, we trade up to draft Chris Paul Jr. he does a very decent job in preseason, Reeder was an absolute HACK last year and doesn't play but beats out Paul, and NOOOO I am not buying your crap Sean about his versatility on special teams, Paul could have contributed there just as much. So instead, we will get to see Paul, twice a year with Jones and the Seahawks. GREAT MOVE Sean and Les!!!
CB (5) Witherspoon, Williams, Durant, Forbes Jr. and Wallace. Hard to argue here other than Williams not performing well last year. Looking forward to the play of Forbes Jr. and the improvement of Durant and Wallace. I have been very hard on Kendrick, but I have to say he did look better this preseason, maybe being cut and brought back helped, but now we get to see him twice a year with Jones and Paul.
S (4) Curl, Kinchens, Lake and McCollough. Solid room, I am looking for better play from Lake, I don't think he played that well last year
ST (3) Evans, Ward, Karty. Evans has cremated the ball this preseason and Karty has been very accurate. Feeling very good with the kicking game. Hoping to see better play out of the special team players this year, last year was an improvement, but still not up to a super bowl contenders standard.
PS (16) OL Arcuri, Bowles, McMahon RB Schrader, Rivers TE Redman WR Edwards, Presley DT Heflin, Norton OLB Muhammad ILB Neal CB Lampkin, Green S Ingle (Human Missile), Valcarcel. Are there any better players out there? Why is Lampkin on the PS, he was absolutely hideous during the preseason. I am great with Schrader, Rivers, Bowles, Redmon, Presley, Edwards and Valcarcel, but the others have did not impress me enough, IMO if a better player can be found replace them. The Human missile made some highlight plays, but the rest of his game was not good.
To me, this team is getting very close to a team that can contend for a Super bowl for multiple years, but we have got to get away from this need to keep players around for some kind of loyalty. Sean definitely has his favorites, and I guess Paul and Lampkin were not on that list, but Reeder and Atwell were. This kind of mindset can be dangerous for a team so close to greatness!!!
Another thing.... Do we have a chance to trade for Anthony Richardson? If we have a chance to get him without moving any 1st's or 2nd, do we do this? Do we include Bennett in a Richardson trade? I think this kid could thrive under McVay tutelage, 23 years old 6'4" 245lbs, . The QB of the future and allow us to use our 2 1st's and 2nd on improving others area's. LT or RT, CB another TE?
