Backs are no joke and it’s very hard to go away. Especially if you get nailed in a bad sack. This condition stinks.
But hey, let’s just stay out of it and not worry. Or Hippa crap…Right? Nope, I want our #1 QB to kick off the season. Stafford team is built for the SB….With out Stafford, we’d be LUCKY to make last seed in playoffs.
You’re not the only one who has said this. So no, was not just to you, but board as a whole. You’re my friend and I consider you one of the best posters in here, but on this one I just disagree.NorCal RF wrote: ↑August 11th, 2025, 4:42 pm“ But hey, let’s just stay out of it and not worry. Ok so since this is directed at me, DM just say since I say hippa laws I’m good with it, single me out I’m ok with that, then lets go your approach and not stay out of it. Let’s dive in on conversation. So we have and it has changed what?
Either he plays week one or he doesn't. Us as fans are not changing whether he plays or not. And we all want him starting week one. You know that. But to be concerned about something none of us have any control over……………….
Thats fine we will agree to……………DelMar wrote: ↑August 11th, 2025, 4:57 pmYou’re not the only one who has said this. So no, was not just to you, but board as a whole. I feel the Rams could be more upfront of what to expect here. Bootmline.
I’ve had this same back problem and it never really goes away, and it doesn’t start up over night. I realize the Rams are being vague on this, because they are hoping for the best. So my comment is geared more to, Rams just be real with us here. We don’t need his exact condition, but just tell us… “honestly, we don’t expect Matt back till 5th game in the season”. Or tell us when this condition started because AT BEST it’s two months from that point.
I realize this is a tough topic, and I’m NOT saying you and others who think this are incorrect. I’m just saying us fans, would like to know what to really expect. As I really think Rams know exactly the status of Matt.
Well, I'm now pretty much figuring on the Rams going with Jimmy Garoppolo for at least the first month of the season, and it seems as though he's effectively being treated as their starting QB.brasilrams wrote: ↑August 11th, 2025, 9:34 pm
How did this happen anyway? Did the rams medical staff miss something before we gave him a new deal? Because if he is damaged goods we could have pursued a qb in the off season or draft . Now there is no one available and we might have to roll week one with jg or sb.
One can argue that the best QB available for the Rams was Jimmy G and that's who they have. So, they did in fact get someone. As far as not knowing and such.. that's a mystery. Im thinking maybe herniated disk's developed from what was a degenerative disk problem. That's bad too, but can be more easily treated. Being an athlete and such as Stafford is, I can see how the Rams and he didn't know because the new issue came on rather quickly. I would guess his work outs being the cause.brasilrams wrote: ↑August 11th, 2025, 9:34 pm How did this happen anyway? Did the rams medical staff miss something before we gave him a new deal? I have two degenerative disk in my lumbar .. I've
Been warned about things like waxing my car in comparison to what a professional athlete would be doing out of necessity.
I only bet when I have an inside scoop. Rams are so tight about this issue, you couldn't get a greased BB up their butt on this. So I have no idea, BUT the reports are not promising.Bulldawg wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 10:15 am I am not worried about Stafford. If this was August 23rd I would possibly be a little more concerned. He will be prepared for week 1. (They havn’t even started scheming for week 1.)
He was fine in OTAs. They are just being cautious (and smart). This is giving Jimmy G and Stetson more reps.
No, I don’t know details about his back but he will be fine. Not time to panic yet.
@Delmar I will bet you $10 he starts week 1 and beats Houston. You down?
Fixed it for ya, 71...RAMFAN71 wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 11:40 am I'm def worried about Stafford. he's older, he's rich as F, and has a very concerned overbearing boss of a wife that owns every movement he makes and has to get permission from, and if he doesn't get permission has gets his balls in vice for a week, and family to answer to. That said, he is no wuss and will play thru soreness. I'm more worried it's a bigger issue that could go bad IF he plays. That's a decision.
I do like Jimmy G and glad he is in the hole here. I think we can win with his arm and experience. Rather have #9, but hopefully McVay can win games with either.
I have never heard him say about workouts being exhausting and lame. Maybe that has changed in his old age but that doesn't sound like him. I don't doubt he is in some pain or he wouldnt have gotten an epidural.DelMar wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 10:52 amI only bet when I have an inside scoop. If we go by history, Staff is a tough dude. So who knows... one thing I thought about, is that Matt has stated in the past how much mini camps and summer workouts are exhausting and lame... so maybe this is his way to get out of summer practices?... compounded w some back issues (I am hoping this is it)?.
Look here, if he starts on game one, your mom said you can stop by the BBQ so we could work on some Daddy/Son time. She hates it when you and I keep bickering. She just wants us to get along, as she would LOVE to make those delicious sandwiches for all of us on a Sunday afternoon.
For clarification... It was a couple of seasons ago in an interview w the Rams reporter discussing camp. He didn't say he hated it, he just said it was grind and not his favorite time of year. So, maybe I went too far in my thinking, but whatever.Bulldawg wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 12:47 pmI have never heard him say about workouts being exhausting and lame. Mom said if you don't bet me $10 then she is going to charge you and extra $20. (We always split the profits.) That will be just as good as beating you in a bet.

I agree. I don’t remember the full list of QBs that were available, but Russell and Darnold — were they both available? I’m not sure if Russell, at this point in his career, is actually any better than JG. But Darnold probably is. If Stafford was really hurt, maybe the new deal wasn’t very smart. They could have pursued Darnold or gone in another direction (although I do agree the draft wasn’t very good for QBs). And, like you said, who knows — maybe he was fine and this just came out of nowhere, so the medical staff could never have predicted it.CierraRam wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 5:57 amOne can argue that the best QB available for the Rams was Jimmy G and that's who they have. Ditto!therealheadslap75 wrote: ↑August 13th, 2025, 3:41 am this sucks no matter how you spin it. no one wants to see JG as the starter, he's a good number two but stafford makes all the throws
what i'd rather not see is an injured stafford go out and perform poorly and the rams are looking at 1-3 while managing the weekly drama of staffords health
i hope they are definitive and make a decision quickly
Double ditto.....Rather see healthy JG than the weekly complaints how Stafford is just not himself.Jacksnow wrote: ↑August 13th, 2025, 7:04 amDitto!therealheadslap75 wrote: ↑August 13th, 2025, 3:41 am this sucks no matter how you spin it. no one wants to see JG as the starter, he's a good number two but stafford makes all the throws

I agree with what you said slap. JG is not a long term NFL starter and I don’t want to see Stafford out there if hurt.therealheadslap75 wrote: ↑August 13th, 2025, 3:41 am this sucks no matter how you spin it. no one wants to see JG as the starter, he's a good number two but stafford makes all the throws

Personally I think McVay would get thoroughly frustrated with Sam Darnold based on his Jared Goff like performance (while he was a Ram) against the Rams in the playoffs. Like Goff in the day, he appears to get easily rattled in the face of specific pressure packages and can't read the defense on top of it. The Rams and Lions laid the blueprint on how to beat Sam Darnold.brasilrams wrote: ↑August 12th, 2025, 5:27 pmI agree.
