Well it depends on how Humphries performs and the clot prognosis for Jackson.

I think most posters have a great deal of hope this season in all phases of our team even at competition at punt returner and ILB. Yet we all saw what a derailed OL did last season in the first 5 games.

Stafford is a true pocket passer who depends on his blindside not being an issue. With Whit then Alaric I think he and the team felt comfortable. Now with the 2nd stint of blood clots on Jackson a cloud surrounds the position unless you think Humphries has recovered from his ACL tear and is fine.

The obvious is to wait and see how Humphries does, but without true game simulation I am not sure we get a true measure. The other answer is fortify the OL with a TE or RB staying in or chipping giving that extra second and a cleaner pocket. Yet the downside is we can't flood the pattern with a lot of receivers. It is very clear to me great teams usually have dominant OLs. I wouldn't call ours elite but I would say top 10. We can't have a big misstep here.

Lastly what are our trade options I read the article that came out today listing a bunch of back up names mainly not sure they are way better. Also the common thought is every team believes they are Superbowl bound at the bg of the year and won't trade a solid starting LT at this juncture maybe at the trade deadline it's a possibility but LTs, QBs tend not to get traded at the deadline.

what LT are you talking about? any quality LT you trade for we will have to over pay for then IMO you pass. this is why IMO we royally F'ed up in the draft by not addressing this position with our 1st pick. anyway we will see what happens

Starting OT don’t become available in June. We have seen the best you can do this time of year with that position the last month. Maybe one gets cut late August or maybe one gets traded at the trade deadline by a bad team looking to dump salary but right now no.

Can Alaric or whomever we trade for also play RT? Don't forget we will have a glaring hole there next year too and I am not quite sure Hav does not have some lingering health issues.

Like I stated it is unlikely we can trade for one now , or by the end of preseason or even at the trade deadline due to the value of the position. I am not sure we can "overpay" as you say I just think teams value LTs too much.

I'm figuring that whatever could reasonably have been done, at least following the NFL draft, has actually been done by the McVay/Snead regime.

Will it turn out to be enough? I'm highly uncertain about that... ;)

Then I ask why ask “do we trade for a LT”…………………

Humphries/Arcuri seem to be our play here. Is Arcuri even on the team? No idea- he was real bad last year. We also have an UDFA from Indiana(RT), and then there's the KS kid we drafted 2 years ago. Based on the Humphries trade, neither is a viable option. Agree that there is def no trade option for a legit LT in June/July.

The issue for me for Humphries assuming the position is his ACL injury is it better. Obviously he played at the end of the year for KC so one has to assume from December to mid June it has gotten even better.

My take is outside of trading for an upgrade we mask the problem by keeping a RB or TE in. Any LT that is released at the end of camp there usually a good reason most of the time it isn't money it's skill so that player most likely is not beating out Humphries.

He was sidelined half the season last year because of his ankle and it seems his shoulder is also a problem . He is also not getting any younger . AJ with the health issues and Hav like this , I am now , OFFICIALLY concerned . Very concerned. I think the FO did a great job this off season regarding the moves and draft but this one major mistake ( not addressing the OT position ) can cost us the season . Maybe the see something with some of the guys we have on the roster ..... and that doesn't say much because they also saw something in noteboom , mclendon and Bobby evans . They are not very good evaluators when it comes to OL.
