I made a post defending our CB room but I still think it's odd we haven't even added a CFA. Ramsey will eat up 20+ mil in cap space and require draft comp so I hope that's not the plan.

Didn't exactly target the top free agents available

We usually have really good luck with UDFA's. I was trying to talk my young nephew off the ledge following the draft and I pointed out we have 4 starters who were CFA's and a lot more backups and role players like McCollough and Dedich and several more.

Nobody knew who Jaylen McCollough was last year at this time but he had 3 Int including a pick-6. Speights was an UDFA and became our starting ILB. I wonder which of this group will make the 53 because some will.

I think it looks pretty good so far. They're FA's...what do you expect?

One of the guys at CBS Sports is going nuts over Willie Lampkin. He’s only 5’10” but is a vicious blocker at guard and center, and apparently he has fullback potential. I’m kind of intrigued. He tore it up at the Senior Bowl. But maybe his strengths in college won’t be enough in the NFL. We’ll see.

Willie Lampkin vs. Poona Ford. How low can you go?

Don't know if they did, or didn't. I saw my nephew go through the UDFA process. His agent told him how it works is a team calls about you, and there is no dickering. Either yes, or no. There is no "let me see who else calls". If you hesitate, they scratch you and move on. It's a rapid meat market. Players typically go to the first team that calls them, or risk not getting another call.

I heard teams start calling potential CFA's in the 6th-7th round saying if you don't get drafted we're interested in signing you as an UDFA. Did your nephew hear any of that? Did he sign with anybody?

I don't think they got any calls ahead of time. Ended up signing with the Eagles, back in the Andy Ried, Michael Vick days. Was unfortunate that was the first team to call. He signed with them as a 6'5 WR, and that team was stacked at wr. He was cut roght before training camp ended. I was hoping the Rams called him. I think Kevin Curtis may have been their #1 at the time!

Interesting, thanks. Kevin Curtis, OMG that's a blast from the past. Too your nephew didn't make it somewhere.

Yes, definitely noticed that. Even if they like their CB's, three of them will be FA's after the season.

I’m a little surprised the Rams didn’t sign a QB here. Are they really that sold on Stetson Bennett? It can’t hurt to bring in a guy to compete with him. 99.999% of the time it won’t matter but it can’t hurt to look for another Kurt Warner.

my feeling is why waste a roster spot. You have JG as a backup with Bennett as your 3rd string. plenty IMO. Guaranteed they draft a QB in 2026 draft

I don’t think a practice squad spot is that valuable. I just am surprised given all of Bennett’s problems both on and off the field that the Rams wouldn’t be looking for a better #3
