What am I missing? They have a guy who clearly struggled when he played center and a couple other guys who haven't played a snap at the position as your guy in a key position with the need to protect the guy you just sold the farm for?

Was listening to Chris Landry from yesterday on a podcast tonight on way home. Said after Lawrence at 1 the rest of the QB group in this draft would all be drafted after Sam Darnold at Darnold’s current play. He said think about that. He said the entire group other than Lawrence has been over rated simply because they play QB.

I think in due time we here are all going to be very pleased that the Niners made the trade they did with Miami and drafted who they did today.

Colin Cowherd called this a while ago. SF never lets anything leak out of their front office. He went on to say it was weird to him that all of a sudden everyone was saying Jones to the 49ers. Listened to Lynch and Shannahan last night on ESPN and they knew in January that Lance was their guy. Who knows if Lance is going to do anything in the NFL but I like the way Lynch and Shannahan work.

They must see something in him. He wasn't even a 4 star prospect in high school. Did not even have any major college scholarship offers. I sure hope this is a swing and a miss.

As far as keeping things close to the vest sure. But............

Everything leading up to last night sorry wasn’t really well thought out by them. It could not have been considering we all know they called GB Wednesday night. They obviously had no feel whatsoever what was going on with Rodgers and GB. Sure one can say no one did but most teams didn’t trade 3 first round picks to move up to 3 so they could draft a QB with what 17 total starts in his career instead of maybe this morning having Aaron Rodgers as your starting QB. My feeling is that war room in Santa Clara is kicking themselves hard right now.

Hey Lance could end up damn good. But I think Landry’s comments makes one think about how over talked and over rated the position continues to be with the draft every year. There were better players talent wise on the board when Wilson, Lance, Fields, and Jones were drafted. No different than when Goff and Wentz were drafted.

Just glad our team “settled” for Stafford while Niners backed themselves into a corner IMO on a QB that played a college schedule that he did and has played 17 games as a QB. Barely a season. By the time he is ready I question who on the niner roster may no longer be.

they had to make that call to GB you would be an idiot not to. Not a Keyshawn fan but as he said this morning I would have traded 6 1's for Rodgers because he is that good. Bottom line is they made the call and GB wasn't budging so they went with their pick. was it the right pick?? nobody will know for 2-3 years IMO.

JMO oc but Rodgers is a niner this morning if Miami didn’t have their 1st round picks the next two years. Oh they had to make the call agree but they also know now they probably screwed the goose in making that trade with Miami.

2-3 years from now agree. Question is who is going to still be on that niner roster then. We know who would have been this year with Rodgers.

SF makes the trade today still if GB comes back to them saying I want XYZ. he is that good

And without those picks xyz is coming from their current roster. And 95% of that current roster isn’t getting such a trade done. We know who that 5% is and if the Niners want to offer those players in a trade then please do I say.

Not sure how GB can fix this. They have visited Rodgers on multiple occasions without positively moving forward. At this point you have to trade him.

Yeah, I think Rodgers never takes another snap for them. You know they would wanna deal him to the AFC if they're forced to deal him. Wonder who it may be. Could very well be Vegas, especially if they're still flush with Draft Picks (not sure). How bout Houston straight up (more or less) for Watson? Whoever it is it would be great to lose Aaron from the Conference.

XYZ could be future picks as well along with 1 impact player.

I agree I thought Lance was a huge risk as well. Not sure I would have made that trade to move up to take Jones either. I think they could have stayed at 12 and taken Jones if that was what they really wanted to do.

Chris Simms said something this morning that I agree with. I know some of you don't like him but he said this. In his opinion SF traded up to take Jones because Carolina and NE was rumored to be enamored with him. But after doing their due diligence they changed their minds and went with Lance. I could see this happening and I do believe they made a hard push for Rodgers too. I think they allow JG play until they think Lance is ready.
