You should. I think most of us are all in Atwells Camp. At least I want the dude to perform... especially for $10M a year. Dude is the fastest guy in the field in most cases... BUT to me, the question still remains... why did we give him $10M? Did another team try and snag him and Sean said nope, thats my guy?. Hmmm

I am also tired of people saying he isn't playing a lot because he can't block. well no shit but you didn't draft him that high to block. he is a burner so use him properly
McVay has always demanded his RB's and WR's block. I doubt they gave an exception to Tutu...

One breakout game doesn't make a breakout season. He's had 2 100 yard games in 4+ years. If he gets one more that doesn't mean he's breaking out...

I was stoked when they drafted him and I wish him well but I think we'd be better off trading him...

Mcvay offense has evolved over the years. TuTu was the last small wr he drafted. Now he is drafting guys like Whittington and Puka understanding that Stafford prefer bigger wrs and Mcvay likes wrs that can block as well as run routes.

With that said, Mcvay resigned him for a reason. Tutu has speed, unfortunately until the Rams OL is stable, TuTu will not be heavily involved in the offense. TuTu gives next to nothing as a YAC guy, when compared to the other alternatives like Puka, Adams and Whittington.

TuTu provides, take the top of the defense, speed unfortunately the Rams OL isn't at a point that the rams should be taking long developing shots down the field. So as of now TuTu is just a decoy that might make the safety look his way as he runs by.

TuTu was part of the FO transition draft (lost pieces FO to Detriot). TuTu wasnt a good pick. The good news, since that FO transition draft, the Rams drafts been top notch.

I never liked the pick either but why sign him to a $10M contract if you aren't going to use him? I completely agree with your assessment of Whit and Puka of course they are bigger and can block. this experiment should be over IMO.

Agreed. He is too small for a McVay type offense. I think he could do well in an offense where he could just fly down the field and catch bombs in the open field.

Maybe we should trade him to the Chiefs, Giants or Ravens. What could we get in return? DB?

Would anyone trade for him with that contract? I think it's possible if someone wants to sign him to an extension.

I keep hoping that he will break out and do something special but i guess time is running out... This will probably be his last year as a Ram.

On Blake Corum's run down near the 20 yard line in the first half, I think it was Tutu that if had actually put some effort into blocking his man it would have been a TD. Contrast that effort with the effort Whittington gave on Puka's 45-yard end around, catching up to Puka, and getting ahead of the defender - who it looked like would have caught Puka otherwise.

EDIT: Yup, it was Tutu. See the video here at the 2:31 mark. https://www.therams.com/video/highlight ... e-landman
SMH. I screamed at him when I saw the play live, the more I watch it the more nauseous it makes me. Put some hands on the guy, don't just throw a shoulder.

The only thing that I can finger is that Witt is better than he thought he would be at this point. Both as a WR and a blocker. Because that's who we're seeing on the field more. If so, then kudos to McVay for playing the better guy over the money guy. That's rare.
Now THATS one grammatical error for the ages! I just spit out my drink! lol!!!

Ok, now that’s a good point. Never thought of it that way. McVay playing the best guy. Which is great
I am glad you said it and not me. I so wanted to respond but I took the high road...unlike you.

My take is that Stafford and the offense are still coming together after not playing together at all in preseason. They want to get Nacua and Adams going first as well as the running game. Still, 1 catch for 4 yards is meager. As Cierra said, I don't think there is a WR3 in a McVay offense. TE's seem to be getting more balls and Davis Allen has more TD's in 2 weeks than the previous 2 years combined. If we get Higs and Atwell going there are literally too many weapons for defenses to deal with.

On a side note, who was shocked to see Xavier catch a bomb for 36 yards week 1?

Was open for a td, but Stafford missed him. Mcvay sees the film, and see Atwell getting open, which is why he was resigned. The issue is getting him on the same page with Stafford and getting the OL to hold up

Hmmm…I’m not sure another team would have offered him what we did. $10M FULLY guaranteed.

For a wide receiver that had the stats he did in 2024 (42 catches 572 yds with zero TD’s) … $10M is a lot. And again, not his fault. Matt just doesn’t throw to him.

Yep... Atwell will be sneaky good this week. Its his turn

Book it, Sanbag..

BTW, on a side note... who do you have to win, and final point score for the Ryder Cup? Both squads look STRONG... I cannot wait till next wkend.

I think they get TU2 going this week as I stated but I don't think it's going to be enough...Philly to win 28-16

AHH Ryder cup week....one of my favorite weeks of the year....the bad guys have a strong team but the match is in New York and that gives them an extra player almost. I like the US 15-13 and they pull it out in the singles like old times. It used to be they weren't as deep as the Americans but that has changed and Europe is every bit as deep now.

I will be all over that next week...enjoy

This was one of the things that made Kupp so good here, he (and Woods) had no fear of sticking their noses into anyone to block and constantly look for someone. I recall Woods once with two blocks on a play and was looking for a third as the play ended. Those are the kind of guys McV likes. I think the Atwell pick was just looking for gadget guy for jet sweeps and deep balls. Even in THAT limited capacity he has been underutilized, so the question is why, and blocking would seem to be the answer.

The only reason I can see for the resigning is comfort, a know quantity during change in the room, with Adams being new, Whit young and then a couple of rooks.

whittington is a monster blocking , a lot of those 10 yard runs by KW only happened because of his tenacious blocking. He is also fast and explosive , and catches most balls . They need to throw ( scheme ) for him more

I feel bad for Tutu he was really good last year. McVay has leaned on 2 wrs almost exclusively which is a mistake. Balance keeps defenses on their toes otherwise they will roll coverage to Puka and Devante.
