Well we are on Year 4 of Steelers/Tomlin like average-ness with a future QB situation of similar dire-ness.brasilrams wrote: ↑September 18th, 2025, 12:22 amFor you to call them the same, McVay would have to waste the next 10 years accomplishing jack shit

Re: Today……..
Again, you’re nothing but a troll. Why are you cherry-picking McVay’s record from the last three years only? Why not look at his entire record since he arrived? Oh, I know why — because then it wouldn’t fit your pathetic narrative. If you look at the full picture instead of nitpicking, you’ll see:Truth wrote: ↑September 18th, 2025, 8:47 pmAs NorCal pointed out, so do the Steelers. Go to their forums and none of them are claiming Mike Tomlin is an elite coach at least not anymore. Yet here, it’s still a belief that McVay is elite despite the last 3 seasons not supporting that argument.
27-26 is average. It’s not elite.
I go back to Mike Martz. Now I think most of us will agree that his addition really changed the team in 1999.
The Rams records were:
1999- 13-3
2000- 10-6
2001- 14-2
2002- 7-9
2003- 12-4
2004- 8-8
2005- (2-3) Martz gone (6-10) overall
2006- 8-8
From 1999-2003 the Rams were elite. Nobody can argue it. But 2004-2006 the cracks started. Nobody was arguing the Rams were still elite in 2004-2006. Things had changed. Then the wheels fell off in 2007 onward.
Well things have changed with the Rams the last 3 years based on again plain statistics. We got a HC that can no longer score many points and the QB we are tied too is making tons of money at almost 38 years old.
To claim this organization is perfect right now is akin to saying back in 2004-05 “everything is great”. Well it wasn’t.
“Best OC in the game”….-
Led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl LVI (2021 season).
Won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award in 2017.
Became the youngest head coach in NFL history to win a Super Bowl (age 36).
Became the youngest head coach to reach the Super Bowl (age 33).
Reached the playoffs six times in eight years.
Won four NFC West titles.
Sean McVay’s overall coaching record with the Rams is 82–52 (.612) in the regular season and 8–5 (.615) in the postseason.
But you prefer to cherry-pick the last three years, because the overall record only looks worse due to that single 5–12 season ( 2023 )— which was completely atypical and happened solely because of an unprecedented wave of injuries that wiped out his offense (including Stafford) and key pieces of the defense ( AD included ). Outside of that outlier season, McVay has been consistently successful.

Re: Today……..
I’m at the point I’m done with this thread because there is not much more to say. But I’ll add this……..
The question was asked is McVay a better coach than Jim Harbough. Tomlin also. The answer is yes on both.
Harbough no doubt if you want a quick turn around with a team not playing up to its expectations he is probably your guy. But McVay wouldn’t be also? Of course he would. But here is the difference. Harbough will eventually piss everyone off where he is at after a few years and is told to leave. How many HC jobs has he had? It has equated to how many SB titles? A national championship at a power house division one school. Congrats(see sarcasm)………
There is a reason why McVay n Tomlin have been in one place for so long. Like Davantee Adams has said since he has arrived McVay empowers people let alone he sees the x’s n o’s of the game like no other. He has never played for someone like that. There is Tremendous value in that people skill set that a select few don’t get n never will.
Yes McVay is a better coach than Harbough……..

For instance, a large part of building of an overall evaluation of McVay based on a “stat” like the last three year record of 27-26?
Those three years followed a Super Bowl VICTORY. Just about every key player not named Matthew Stafford is GONE now. All-in followed by all-rebuild.
So yeah, McVay has quickly rebuilt a playoff contender. Like that’s easy? Certainly a top Super Bowl contender demonstrated in last year’s playoffs anyway. How could anyone seriously making a coaching evaluation overlook that? Grouping the 3-yr losses leading back to this current team is…a massive cherry pick.
NFL GM’s view McVay as average? LMFAO

Here is the thing. His “sample size” is because he burned bridges at a few of those stops. His employer got fed up with him. He doesn’t have the “sample size” if he knew how to work with people and not be a complete ass a lot of the time. McVay doesn’t have the ‘sample size” because he actually gets along and is respectful to those within the only organization he has been a HC………
Doesn’t relate to on the field stuff n I’ll say not important. But the flag ship here for the niners has a niners HC segment every week during the season. Has one with Shanahan and had one with Harbough. Harbough was a top tier bleep hole every week on that show to the hosts. They did nothing to warrant it and in fact kissed his ass. Didn’t matter. He didn’t want to do the show so I’m Jim Harbough so I’m going to be a piece of bleep towards you. Hung up on them more than once. More than a few up here was happy to drive him to the airport when he left…………

it was interesting I was listening to Cowherd the other day and his point was you could argue he's the greatest coach of all time due to the points I made above. In every instance he took over a shitty team/program and brought them to winners. He then has Klatt on and he said pre covid Harbaugh was a complete asshole, like you said, but every since Covid he has been a changed person. Klatt said the pre-meetings he could do Harbaugh was an ass and would barely engage. He says now when he did Michigan games he was very cordial and would stay after to talk about anything.NorCal RF wrote: ↑September 19th, 2025, 12:07 pmAnd other than the turn around, that I agree with and said, I will disagree back………ocram23 wrote: ↑September 19th, 2025, 11:42 am

Oh Duane, Duane, Duane...
You know the difference between you Duane and Truth?
If not, let me fill you and (and I think I speak for a few of us in here with this)
First off, Truth has been around a LONG time. Sure he has some wild takes, and we can debate those takes, and we have some civil discourse, or not.. BUT, Truth has earned the right to say what he wants.
You on other hand, Mr Duane... come in here like a bull in the china shop, still wet behind the ears Posting CONSTANTLY stating things like we have an old broken down QB, an average coach and tons of other nonsense.
I mean what do you expect to happen to you in here?
You just spray your drivel all over the forum, and we have to find a way to weed through the CRAP. I mean, let's get a clue here. I tried helping you, and you just keep on being, well... YOU

Re: Today……..
I think if Harbaugh can get the chargers a couple SBs (super tall order), then he has to be considered amongst the greats.. until then no way can we say he is better than McVay.
I agree on Belichik, his legacy is tainted with a number of poor seasons and the shadow of Brady. I'd bet that he gets fired from NC this year also.
