What else is McVay going to say at this point. He's spent a lot of resources on players via trade only to turn around and dump them a season or two later.

Greatest Coach in Rams History, he would be Hired in literally 2 MINUTES if he was let go, and this loser dumps on him. What a horrendous Rams fan.

WHEN we win it all soon, no Ring for you!
He isn't the greatest coach in Ram history yet. He could get there but you have to earn that title. I hope he is right about Stafford and just not blowing smoke.

I'm not a cheerleader like you. I'm just not convinced till I see Stafford perform well in the Rams Offense. Now simmer down sparky

Well isn’t this how it works in the real world with x wives? I mean for us divorced fellas on here… how much did we invest, time and resources to get married? All to just dump or get dumped a few years later? This is normal Toast.

I promise man, you will not be let down. We’re gonna have a good season. You can book this $hit all day long amigo. You are about to be electrified (even w the bananas on our helmets).
We will see. As a Rams fan I've seen a lot of QB's come to the Rams to reignite their careers and the results have not been good. Anyone remember Steve Bartkowski? Now we have Stafford and Jackson coming in to lead us to victory. No one knows how this will turn out

DMRamFan wrote: June 21st, 2021, 8:33 am I hear you. Yes, we’ve had a ton of QB’s come in through the years that many thought were the saviors.

But in all honesty here Toast…doesn’t this team right now feel different?. The coaching, the energy, the enthusiasm, the chemistry…?! I am honestly trying to look back to the last time things felt this way during a summer before a season was to start… and I just do not recall the excitement at this level.

For me, I am always usually pretty objective. Even a Debbie downer at times. I’ve sat here for months yelling that we need more help at OL/Edge and even LB spots. But I finally just accepted we have who we have at this point. Depth is a real issue for me, for we better stay healthy!

But come on, let go man! McVay and Staff are going to be lights out. We are about to witness how much McVay was being held back with Goff AND we’re about to see how much Stafford was being held back by being a Lion. We’re going to see things that will make YOU head to Target and buy some panties w the rest of us moms!
Dont even waste tour time with a Bozo who compares a washed up Steve Bartkowski to an in-his-prine Matthew Stafford. Why do you need HIM on your side? Let him be the miserable fuck who knows nothing that he is and like I said, no ring for him.
Now that's an emotional little post. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.
Have you gotten your Mathew Stafford tattoo yet?

I agree that McVay would say something positive no matter what the scenario. I think there is a big difference between "Mathew is doing great", or "Mathew is awesome", vs "this dude is one bad Mother Fker". Read between the lines. McVay is seeing Stafford for the first time on a practice field and he is getting excited. Yes, we all have to wait and see if the chemistry works out but you know this feels different than the past.

It is okay to get a little excited!

We know you and Rammer are starting to get a little excited...you just can't admit it yet. ;-) You should smile every time you hear Stafford's name...not grimace.

PLEASE never put Stafford and Bartowski in the same sentence. Those two QBs can never be compared.

McVay and Stafford will both be under tremendous pressure to perform this season. Stafford is definitely not accustomed to those kind of expectations, so it will be interesting to see how he responds.

I can tell you one thing. You won’t need many Stafford moms if the Rams faithful turn on Matthew, Kelly Stafford will interject herself into any criticism of Matthew and defend him ferociously.
Well most Rams Fans won't be as emotionally invested in him as some of our board members so he'll have to perform well and early. McVay has set expectations very high so a slow start could spell trouble.

I don't think anyone on this forum (or the LA Rams) really care about what Kelly Stafford has to say. I guess bashing Stafford is not enough so now you want to bring down his wife? I would be more concerned if his wife (or anyone's) wasn't defending him. Not to mention, she has been right on many occasions. Remember her rant on the COVID testing policy? The policy was stupid at the time. The NFL actually came in and changed their ruling after the fact. Not because of Kelly, but what she said was 100% accurate.

You need to go back and re-watch Stafford's playoff games and not just look at the stats. He played well enough to win two of them...as a wild card team. Lions had the Dallas game won if it wasn't for officials giving up the ghost. Not to mention that was years ago. To think Stafford can't win a playoff game is a little short sighted. Different team, different players.

I think this season will be a tough one. The NFC West is the best division in football. ALL the teams in the NFC West have improved. I am much more excited with Stafford being on the team than I would be if Goff was still the QB. At least Tom Brady only had to deal with 1 team in his division last year.

Agree what the hell do you expect McVay to say with those saying such............

McVay again would be unemployed for as long as he wanted to if not the HC of the Rams...........

Again glad we have Stafford. But fact is he had some talent in Detroit at both WR over the years as well as multiple first round picks overs the years in the OL. It’s not out of line at all for our fan base to say prove it that you can now take a team to the next level and be questioning if he can until he shows he will. I think he will but to assume he will well or knock those who need to see it first..................

Absolutely McVay and Stafford have a ton of pressure to get this team to the SB. Simply fact when you have done what you have done personal wise the last few years leading up to this season. The eyes of the entire league is on them. No different than Tampa last year. Those who deny are being really naive.

And especially a lot of time on our Rams moves. Sure is odd how much you have paid attention to the Rams, even before we got Stafford. Hmmm

Smell test isnt passing here.
Smell this…I’ve been posting under the handle “itsneverstaffordsfault” on lions forums for years.

Also, I have a reason to follow the Rams now. One, I had advocated for the Lions moving on from Stafford for years, so I’m curious to see how things go for him now, and second, the success of Stafford and the Rams directly impacts future draft positions for the Lions. So I have a vested interest in rooting against the Rams. But on the other hand, I wouldn’t hate it if Stafford was to win a SB either.
Verbally saying that you are rooting against a team that is a fan forum of that team well you shouldn’t be in here then IMO. Stirring up shit doesn’t go over too well in here. There has to be forums where you can just talk about Stafford.

You guys breed losing, we do not. Thanks for shopping. Stafford is about to experience what it is like to be on a WINNING franchise. Something you can only dream about. Bye Felicia

•There are some other Ram forums where you would fit right in. This aint one of them.
some of you are sensitive I guess. Do you expect fans of opposing teams to always root for the Rams? Are only Rams fans allowed to post here?

Personally, I like to hear opposing opinions and viewpoints on different topics. It makes things more interesting.

Speaking of breeding losing, I keep hearing mentionings of the one playoff win since 57. Don’t forget that Matthew Stafford was there for over a decade of that, playing the most important position, and didn’t get that one playoff win in his 12 seasons, even though he was on a team with a top 5 offense(2011), a top 5 defense (2014).

Hence the handle “it’sneverStaffordsfault” because of the prevailing attitude that Stafford has been let down by his teammates and coaches since high school.
This forum isn’t designed for fans of opposing teams. Respect such! Come back on Lions/ Rams week like others do when their team plays the Rams. That is welcomed in here.

I was very excited going into 2018.

I thought we had the best offensive player in the league in Gurley. We had a young QB that seemed to be on the come up. And a coach that seemed to be pushing all the right buttons. I expected great things in 2018.

2019 was clouded by Gurley falling off a cliff and the Pats seeming to solve our all world offense.

2020, I just hoped for a wild card. But I was very encouraged by what we got.

Going into this year, I am as excited as 2018. I think the Rams are an absolute SB threat. TB is solid, but we all know repeating is super hard. I would rank the Rams over teams like GB, SF, or Seattle.

I like our coach a lot. Our coach says this was the guy he needed to unlock his offense. They got him that guy.

Now we see. But I am encouraged.

Exactly GenX. You have to be at least a little excited for this year. It doesn't mean we will win the SB but we have just as good of a chance to get there than any other team. That is something to be excited about and smile about. Just because you drink a little of the Kool-Aid doesn't mean we think a SB win is automatic.

It is so much more fun/exciting to approach this season like we are going to win it all instead of being pessimistic or having a "wait and see" attitude.

(I'll give Hadl credit for having a solid first year which helped return the Rams to the postseason, however he *self-destructed* in the divisional-round playoffs and was jettisoned early during the following season.)

If you want a more recent example, there was Nick Foles back in 2015.

So your skepticism is quite justified by our team's history, not to mention simple common sense. "Let's wait and see," that's my approach as well... ;) :? :geek:

I think he may last another week or so... He'll see how long his anti Ram and Stafford rants last in here. It is one thing to come into here as a guest, say your peace and then let it go... but it is a whole other thing when you repeat your hatred for our newest QB on a daily basis. To me, this is so weird and odd, I dont even know how to respond to the guy anymore. Honestly NorCal, I'm getting the feeling this is either 14 year old kid or a Rams poster that hates Staff. I dont know, and dont care anymore.
Doesn’t like Stafford and sees and avenue where he thinks he can express such. He can if in the manner you described correctly DM. Completely miscalculated though that this forum won’t tolerate someone saying that they hope the Rams lose every week. That’s not “friendly” banter in a Rams forum. That’s BS and being an ass is what that is.

"Welcome to the internet!"

I've participated in several Rams-oriented forums, and all of them featured a small minority of posters who preferred insulting other fans to having civil football-related discussions with them--individuals best ignored, I'd venture. That kind of situation applies to a wide variety of online forums, not merely sports-related ones.

(The debate became especially virulent on the subject of relocation back in 2015-16, within the "Rams Talk" forum of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.)

Personally, I appreciate being exposed to a long-time Lions fan's perspectives on Matthew Stafford's strengths and weaknesses, you would certainly know more about him than myself... :) 8-)

Sports talk wouldn't be much if all fans did was wait and see...

Nick Foles, great example. Had one of the best years ever for a QB in the NFL immediately with Chip Kelly and the Eagles. Then Kelly mucked up the roster I believe thru the promotion of GM, together with an injured O-line, and Foles was mortal again…until he went to Fisher's Rams, and became the complete other end of the success spectrum = he was absolutely horrible…then later back to the Eagles for a Super Bowl ring/MVP :D

So sure, it's OBVIOUSLY about TEAM and being placed in a position for success…my money is on McVay and Stafford (how much money is the question :D )...

Haha, thanks for the welcome Commish. I can only imagine the relocation debates. I’m not a stranger to Internet forum behavior and figured there were more civil mannered posters here that didn’t mind a little banter from the opposition.

While I have my own opinions formed over years of watching Stafford play, this certainly doesn’t mean that I can’t be wrong about him, and as I’ve stated before, I feel like he is in the best position that he’s ever been in to succeed, I’m just not as certain of it as some of the more emotional posters here seem to be.
All that aside (regarding purpose/agenda for being here), you chose "ItsNeverStaffsFault" as your forum name? Not sure if it's been pointed out or not, but that in itself smacks of a troll/forum relationship :D

Respect your opinion commish but he stated he wants to Rams to lose. With me it has nothing to do with his opinion with Stafford. You are ok that he choose to state he wants the Rams to lose in this venue?

I am a Lions fan and I pointed out that the Rams losing improves draft positioning for the team that I root for. What is so wrong with me cheering for the Lions over the Rams?

I also added that I wouldn’t mind seeing Stafford win a ring.
It’s a Rams fan forum that’s what the hell is wrong with such a comment. It doesn’t take a whole hell of a lot of smarts to understand that isn’t going to sit well in here. Save the better draft position for Lion’s forums.

Yep, it's basically trolling and not much more. Never Stafford's fault, complete with him sitting on a throne. Real subtle there - what could go wrong  The playing the hope you all lose merely for draft positioning should be quite popular here too as you say as well :D

Well sure, every forum has it's trolls :D

To change the subject from Trolls...

This is a pretty interesting piece from Pat McAfee show last week. It was interesting to hear insight from a GB defensive player on how they prepared playing against Stafford (3:15)

AND the perspective of a Lions fan (8:30) which is probably represents a majority of Lions fans.

Someone who comes on here and states he wants the Rams to lose, Stafford is satin, and keeps poking the bear… yeah, that’s gonna blow over like a fart in the wind in here.

NorCal was correct in his question to Commish. If Commish is ok with this nonsense… then Commish maybe in the wrong forum himself. This is nuts. How can anyone be ok with this gibberish?. (And I like Commish, even when he can’t admit when he’s wrong, I still like the old Texan). 😜
Yeah, I think Commish is just a supporter of everyone's right to an expressed view. Which I disagree with in this case to some degree, that is, this is a TEAM forum in which Upland is sheriff. Anybody not ok with that can leave.
'
For me, sure discussion is great regardless of the view. Sincere discussion that is. I mean, can you imagine going to a Lion's forum with the member name Jared Goof, just to antagonize fans there? I mean one or two posts to make a point fine, but an ongoing presence about what a trainwreck Goff is or whatever? It's a dick move…
